I think this series will pick up as It goes on. Dermot has just signed a contract to 2020 as well as presenter.

Oh come on this is the Daily Star.
It's only just been renewed. And whilst the ratings are down yet again, it's still one of the highest rating shows on commercial television and is still hugely profitable for ITV. |

Scripted to hell. I didn't buy any of it. Plus the two guys have been on several TV shows in the past.
Simon really has hit rock bottom with the content now. remember the blonde haired guy. And some C5 show totally contrived but remember this is Xfactor "going back to basics". |

It can probably fall quite a bit yet and still make a profit. And that's what it's about at the end of the day, money. It's not about how well it's rating compared to this or that, at its basic it's about how much it costs per hour of tv v how much it brings in.
And The X Factor is an extremely commercial show, it's not just the adverts you've got big sponsorship deals, product tie ins, product placements, etc. Then there's the fact it's a big platform for Syco who make money on top of that from ITV from the likes of the tour, the acts who have success and so on. Syco may even feel it's okay to run at a loss from their perspective (i.e. it costs them more to produce than ITV are willing to pay) as they'll make cash off the back of it. |

I think the X factor like most shows has a shelf life, the problem is that they have tried everything to make it interesting. They have basically gone back to how the show first started after they exhausted every other idea.
My view is give this show a chance and see what happens, i have seen the first few episodes and it hasn't been that bad. Maybe less of the sob stories, but just give it a chance. Lets put it like this if the X Factor was axed, people would soon ask for it back, its always the same! |

If tonight's episode is as awful as last nights I think the viewing figures will fall to an all time low.

Excruciating, and yet some people will buy into it. |

We were not sure if it was set up by the producers, or the guys came up with it themselves and sold it to the producers. Everything about it was fake. The back story, the judges reactions, Simons fake indignation - all the while the cash register is working away in his head.
Excruciating, and yet some people will buy into it. |

8.28m watched it last night, nearly the same as last year's final so I doubt it!

It will go on until at least 2020 imo. I just can't see ITV axing the show in the near future, the X Factor is in ITV's DNA now.
