I think it's time. The Vic has lost its community feel, it's now become a place where the Carters can do Kareoke and have arguments in the kitchen. They should move out and Phil and Sharon should purchase it again.

They need to move on with the times and the Carters have been a breath of fresh air. I still like Sharon and Phil but they have been appallingly written and I don't think I can bear to see the on/off relationship dramas in the Vic. They tried that with Kat/Alfie and it didn't work, in my opinion.

Sharon needs to be a better mother to Dennis (can't call him Denny anymore) and she's an awful parent! Apologies I'm being harsh on her but she's not coming across as likeable recently and she needs to get away from the toxic Mitchell family. Her attitude to Jay last night was out of order.

Mick is a popular landlord and I can't see him leaving the Vic.

I'm not mad about Phil in the Vic, but Sharon fits the place like a glove. Even when she was there temporarily this year it was wonderful seeing her back behind the bar.

I agree that the Vic has lost its community feel under the Carters. They exist in their own little bubble.

Bib I agree. Phil wouldn't work in the vic imo. Grant would be better than Phil there.

So was Angie.

I'm all for Sharon being back in The Vic. I've never taken to the Carters running the place although I admire the fact EastEnders took a chance and tried something new by putting a new family in there.

Don't particularly like the Carters but at least most of them can act somewhat competently, which is apparently beyond Letitia Dean. Eastenders needs to look forwards not back.

Sharon is more suited behind the bar than Linda is. Sharon is always confident and very sociable. I think it's time she became Landlady again

I think the Vic needs a shake-up, but not by putting Sharon & Phil in there. No thanks.

In my opinion, Linda brings the place down. The LL needs to be more feisty, less 'fluffy'.

Stacey would be my top choice. Volatile & feisty.
I'd love it if she was there with Mick.
Although, Stacey & Martin could work in there too, I guess.

Stacey, Martin, Belinda, Kyle and Bex would really suit the Vic.

I don't see why Sharon would want it again. For all the happy memories?

Sharon but not Phill. Apart from anything else, it would be ridiculous to have a alcoholic in there given his relapse.

I voted for Sharon but not Phil.

However I like Vald's post, I wouldn't mind seeing Stacey and Martin running it. The Carter's are repetitive as the OP states so its going to be difficult for the writers to produce family man material for Mick when Linda and Lee are not there.

Martin and Stacey as Land Lord and Land Lady, Kyle and Kathy both running the Kitchen, Bex hovering around bringing the teen drama, Mark working behind the bar - maybe even Courtney too as a throw back to Tiffany. That would be a good set up.

Stacey and Martin would be boring in the Vic.

Martin is a great 'everyman' character but, as we've seen with Mick, that kind of character doesn't work as landlord. The landlord of the Vic should always have an edge about them - Den, Frank, Grant all had it. Alfie had it in his first stint.

And I don't want to see Stacey's miserable face behind the bar.

I like Mick and Linda running the vic, I don't see any need to change that. Sharon was always defined by the vic and in thought it was good when she came back this time that she realised she had to leave that pub behind her. Phil wouldn't be great behind the bar - he'd be kicking off every five minutes and barring half of the square for various reasons.

I get what you're saying about Martin. He wouldn't be my top choice for a partner for Stacey to run the Vic with. But having said that, I think Martin has progressed quite a bit as a character since when he first came back. He's got more balls now, and being a Fowler, it would keep a historical link to the Square.

When it comes to Mick, I'm half with you. As he is now, with Linda, he's got very little room to expand out and give us more 'meaty' performances. But I feel that if Linda were to go and he was paired up with someone less fluffy, he could be great. He needs a more volatile relationship. This 'happily married couple' set up is fine in a "aaah, how sweet" kind of way, but it becomes boring to watch.

As I suggested before, Mick & Stacey would potentially be a good pairing for running the Vic. Kush wouldn't work, imo and I'm struggling to think of an existing female cast member, other than Stacey, who would be able to stand up to the demands of the role.

Sharon - Yes
Phil - No

I always thought Cora could have been great- big hair, sharp tongue- old school East Ender but she was/is written so badly it sadly wouldn't work.

I'm amazed that people on this thread seem to think that Sharon would be happy back in the pub where her father was murdered and buried in the cellar !! Her husband being an alcoholic also seems to mean nothing or the fact that her mother drank herself to death not helped by the fact that she worked in a pub. If I was Sharon I wouldn't want to set foot in the place.

I would like Sharon and Grant in there, no to Phil. Or in a few years time Sharon and Dennis.

Yes, that makes sense. EE peed all over that by having her decide to get married there though! God knows why!

By the same token people say Sharon wouldn't be in there because of all the bad memories would Stacey want to live in the place where her rapist lived and clean up glasses in the place where she murdered her rapist?

They really made a mess of Sharon and motherhood, then repeated it with Ronnie. I don't understand why EE continually miss open goals.

Ronnie and Roxy went back to work in the Vic about two days after their dad was brutally murdered there, so I don't see the issue
