To be honest most of them did fine on their first outing as 'new dancers'. Some better than others but it must have been nerve wracking for most of them. As much as I like Ore I thought he was a tad too confident and that might be his downfall as the time goes on. Naga seemed quite relaxed and I just love Judge Rinder.

BIB - This is my one reservation about Ore. He and Danny Mac are the ones I thought would be contenders for the title as soon as I heard who was competing. I still think they are likely to be the best dancers, but I have a niggling suspicion that Ore might prove to be a bit annoying. I hope I'm wrong - maybe he will just be a bit of a showman in a good way - but I'm already beginning to feel slightly irritated by him.

Agreed on Ore - I physically cringed when he "dance-walked" over to Tess to find out his partner.

I hope he learns to tone it down a bit - otherwise I hope he is talented enough to warrant his self-confidence!

What is wrong with that? You need to be confident to be convincing. Why is confidence and ambition so frowned upon so much. I want sass and vim and vigour. It is better than Abbey "Me nerrrves" Clancy. I am a bit bored of anodyne being a desired personality trait.

Me too! I had no idea who he was but thought he was good in the group dance and he made me laugh. I love it when I find someone unexpected to support (though it's early days )

Yes, you're right. I was disappointed to see her paired with Brendan, but I suppose it was a question of age/personalities. Gio would have been a better height match too.

Ah well, we'll be seeing a lot of sticky-out bottom. Again.

Anastacia was having great time with Gio but I felt it appeared more play fun rather than any partner chemistry that you need for some of the dances.
Play fun is more for the bad dancers who Anastacia isn't one of.

He really disappointed me, I like him and was looking forward to him, even more so after they bigged him up in rehearsals and showed him really going for it shaking his hips.

Then we got treated to some laid back version of the dance from him.

I feel that when someone is too confident if they fail to impress one week they take it very badly. Yes it's good to be confident but just it emerge slowly and gently. That way no one gets hurt or upset.

Just watched it back and her confidence definitely grew as it went on and she got better.

Still excited by his & Oti's pairing and think he could be a real contender!

BIB Excuse the pun...

To give him his due, he threw himself into it with all the gusto he could summon up!!!

From the moment he was announced, I knew and stated over and over that he would be a contender - but would anyone listen?? Favourite contestant just above Tameka & Danny.

Being over-confident is an off-putting trait in most walks of life. Well it is from what I've seen. I didn't get that vibe too much from Ore but Melvin most certainly comes across as it.

Being over-confident leads to accusations of smug and such which is hardly something to entice people to vote. It certainly doesn't with me. Meek and unsure about yourself is often much better liked because its relatable. It's got that British sense about it, self-deprecation etc.

How so?

He had a couple of little cameos either side of the "Daisy lift" one with Natalie and then a shimmying set with Ore, Daisy, Anton and Natalie. He looked OK (better than I expected) but clearly has some way to go to keep up with Ore!

It was Greg and it was pretty good. He also helped lift Laura in the middle section where Naga & Claudia were similarly lifted.

ETA: Watched it back to spot him specifically - and he was brilliant - very natural mover and totally backing up my tip for him to win. Go Dan!!!

Danny was the surprise standout for me. A very good mover

Claudia may have been divine but Lesley was absolutely dreadful in that section - she was off time, looked off balance...just, no

Rinder is also stiff

Naga had an awkward descent from the lift but looked like she was loving it up there, her head was going ten to the dozen in time to the music!

Danny for me - it was unfortunate that he was wearing similar colours to the Pro male dancers as a lot of the time he looked like a pro!

I have high hopes for him

"BEST in the group dance?"

Aljaz - for that eye-popping booty-shake when surrounded by Naga, Louise, Katya & Oti.
Phwoar!!!

He actually takes part in three lifts:

- Daisy in front of judges desk
- As one of three lifting Naga
- Carrying Janette off whilst spinning just before the pros solo section

Bodes very well for him...

Clearly but the common link with your comment was "that section" o f the dance and I wanted to highlight Lesley. Hope that's ok?

Provided you are not putting words into my mouth then it's ok

I feel the need to clarify again that I highlighted that section to pin point Claudia. Otherwise that section was not interesting to me. I'm done now.

I've watched it loads and I missed Danny apart from the beginning so watched it again and really watched for him - I think someone said his downfall is he is dressed like the male dancers and I have to admit I kept merging him with Gorka but watching it for him, I noticed how good he is.

The competition group
Ore
Danny
Claudia
all three of these really stood out for me at different points

The developers: These could be good and will have strong certain dances:
Louise
Laura
Naga
Will

The entertainers. They'll be great to watch and will have some dance content
Tameka
Rinder
Anastacia

The fodder
Greg
Lesley
Daisy
Ed

Not sure where he fits at the mo. As seemed to be playing it cool!
