WHY would Grant take Mark Jr with him?
Just met this 'boy' and takes him with him as back-up against 'dangerous' bad guys?
Contrived or what? |

I mean Grant would have gone on his own, or I thought the Mitchells knew lots of hired muscle. However, he decides to let an extra from Grease accompany him to rescue his nephews from murderers. They must've paid Ross Kemp a fortune to act out this dross.

Grant's English speaking son (who has lived in Florida for 21 years) returns for a few weeks - cops off with his half sister (who has only just returned) and then unknowingly helps his real Dad to catch villains. It's like a bad American daytime soap.

I think EE is very contrived at the moment but let's see how it plays out first.
Mark is extended family to Ben - may not be blood relations but I imagine they might see him as an honorary Beale due to being Ian's little brother and being related to Ian's kids who of course are Mark's second cousins. Sharon might vouch for him, just wanting somebody to go with Grant. Grant might be sensible enough to realise that at 55ish he is not going to be a match for one fir bloke in his twenties, let alone the several they are likely to be facing so will accept any help offered. |

So far it's been one of those 'be careful what you wish for' arrivals. It's been so contrived from day one. I'm beginning to wish they had left him in America and forgot the whole thing.

I bet they are going to do the cliche 'you're a mitchell' after Mark beats up one of the guys.

I feel like Mark will want to help out (probably since Courtney is worried) and then Sharon pushes him to go with Grant so they can bond, since she wants to reveal the secret soon.
Although yes it's very contrived. But not as bizarre as how we were expected to believe the coincidence in relationship between Kathy/Gavin/Sharon

I don't see why Sharon would want to him to go. Michelle would not be happy!

Also, Mark and Shakil are portrayed as best mates. How long have they known each other, a week?

The whole Mark storyline has been very poorly written. This had real potential and the actor that plays him seems pretty good, but they way he just turned up after phil's phone call and then seemed to accept that it was all a mistake is just odd. it is all so contrived and whilst I realise that Ross kemp was on a very tight schedule and could only film a limited amount I still think this could have been done a lot better. Still, will wait to see how it all plays out!

This was a farce from the moment Michelle wrote Peggy a letter about Mark.

They had an easy and plausible way to bring Mark into Walford...his uncle Martin's wedding. Naturally DTC and his team took the ridiculous, would-never-have-happened approach. |
