Hi Ochre. Do you know which movie are they doing??. It's really unfair of Claudia to
broadcast a few and not the others.

I am sure you will keep us informed.

O/T Shame that Melvin went as I would liked to see him progress for a couple more weeks. The Mirror say that Anastacia had a back stage meltdown and refused to dance! OK .. its the Mirror ... but Brendan did look completely furious at the end of the show.

Can I just appreciate that Gio did NOT get partnered with Anastacia and is not caught up in this particular drama....”

I've just got this small back-of-my-brain niggling feeling that Gio might have choreographed differently for Anastacia so that (who knows?) the reinjury might not have occurred. Brendan is closer to Anastacia's age so maybe doesn't see the issue, but for the younger guy, there might be more respect and less hauling her round by that one arm she gestured to??? I think how respectful Gio was to Katie Derham last year. It's all unknowable. I'm certainly not saying Brendan's at fault with his choreo. He's competitive. He is who he is. And Anastacia must have hoped she could do it too. Her drive and her sassiness... But maybe they were both beguiled beyond precaution.

Perfectly happy that Laura and Gio are partnered. I don't think another couple has the same dance-floor chemistry, but still I wonder how things would have gone for Anastacia with a different partner.

Kind of off topic, sorry

Its an interesting thought isn't it. I do wonder a bit if Brendan was in full Flashman choreo mode and forgot that his partner was, although clearly a fit woman, managing post-surgical weaknesses. Brendan has a bit of form for 'hauling' his partners into (IMHO) rather inappropriate lifts - I have repressed memories of Kirsty last year ending up in some very undignified positions. Gio has a good eye for line and shape and I think might well have adopted a 'less is more' style on the salsa lifts. Personally I can't see how Anastacia can continue - she must be in very severe pain.

Will be interesting to see how Gio approaches salsa with Laura as her height and limb length will make going into and out of lifts elegantly more of a challenge.

Hi Sarah No I don't, guess we'll have to wait for their ITT appearance. You're right it is unfair Will look out for any hints on social media like Laura's 'Venus' hint a couple of weeks ago lol.

No blog entry yet Huph, Laura has been on a cover shoot today and Mick is there too

Ah that explains why Giovanni was having lunch with Aldo Zilli instead of practising their next routine. This appeared on my Twitter earlier....

On Choreography Corner Karen Hardy has just said Laura & Gio have Salsa this week.

So I guess we will soon find out how Gio choreo's those salsa lifts!

Does anyone remember Alijaz and Abbey Clancy scoring a perfect 40 for their VERY disco salsa? Saturday Night Fever - You Should Be Dancing. Judges were...errr... remarkably generous. But it was very, very crowd-pleasing.

Wonder what the movie is for Laura. She could certainly pull off a 70s disco number.

I still can't believe Abbey won.

Yes Laura has to do lifts this week! Excited for their Salsa actually. She showed loads of potential for Latin in her Cha Cha and with the confidence gained from their Waltz I'm hoping she'll really be able to let go and give a sassy performance. Expecting lots of armography and technique for Salsa is less exact than Cha Cha isn't it. She can go a bit wild!

With their chemistry could be a strong Latin dance for them....now hoping they've got well suited music./theme.

Worryingly, DWTS had a Samba to Jungle Book / I Wanna Be Like You (Meryl and Maks danced it). In a world where a VW was danced to Oom-pa-pa last year, could the theme pixies decide that this should be re-imagined as a salsa

In Movie week, nothing, but nothing, can be ruled out...

Ochre, I don't know if you recall that I c&p a DS poster's comments on Helen and Aljaz last year on the H&A appreciation thread. Well the same poster (enthus-pro) has posted this about L&G in the 5 Thoughts thread. It is significant that Laura is one of the celebs s/he chooses to comment upon, which means s/he considers she has talent and enthus-pro is a pro dancer. Anyway:
Quote:
“Laura & Giovanni – her arms felt comfortable in the unique themed cha cha (think she enjoys using them too) and thought she did her best to make them look crisp/controlled. Was a little worried with her leg action in the group dance and thought that it carried through into her cha cha. Though her lock steps felt a bit off and agree that the knees were flexed, it was nice that she gave it her best and look forward to seeing the improvements in her upcoming latin. Enjoyed the Waltz as well and thought the couple had nice chemistry together. Think she's headed in the right direction with her free arm extension and that she could still loosen up and still let go a bit of her body. Think her paso skirtwork as a beautiful gypsy girl will look nice, and that it was good to see the contemplative moment at the top carry through in her dreamy eyes throughout.”

Now you really are worrying me LadyLavender, I'm imagining Gio & Laura dressed as Tarzan and Jane surrounded by plastic palm trees with Baloo and King Louis dancing round them

Roll on the announcement of the songs to put my mind at rest...hopefully

I do remember Maggie, thank you for that and to enthus-pro too. Some really encouraging comments particularly from the Waltz and I am now loving the idea of Laura as a beautiful gypsy girl in a Paso

Quite like to see them dancing to More Than a Woman by the Bee Gees/Tavares from Saturday Night Fever. Perhaps make it a bit faster than the movie version and definitely more dynamic (like Jay & Aliona's Pulp Fiction jive which gave a nod to the film in styling and attitude but then built on it.) Would be very classy. But also think Laura & Gio could do something more hot and messy I don't know enough movie salsa songs .. but then neither probably do the producers
I hope it's good and a song they like .. always helps.

Thank you for posting that, I remember reading that poster's comments from last series, always so informative and yes, they tended to focus on the couples with potential so it's a good sign!
