I am a small dissenting voice that says the costume is fab for the dance but too 'skimpy' (said in Ola Jordan accent) for the standing around sections. Needs a bit of chiffon skirt. I don't want to see any celeb woman feeling rather self-conscious and grimly clasping her hands in front of her all evening.
The training clip was hilarious and its the first decent VT out of Gio - he looks much, much better this week. I thought he was looking, quite understandably, a bit run-down/stressed in the earlier weeks. |

This week's Radio Times YouGov Strictly polling is an interesting read:
https://yougov.co.uk/news/2016/10/06...favourite-lo/? It shows quite different rankings of the contestants for the questions - Who do you want to win (Laura is 11th) - Who do you think will win (Laura is 4th) Laura is rising from Week 1 to Week 2 which is good news for her. Ore, Will and Naga are the losers from Week 1 to Week 2. I would be really interested to hear your opinions on the graphs - does it 'feel right' to you? |

I see there is now a thread in the MF discussing this. Don't want to duplicate but any thoughts on Laura welcome.

I don't think you are duplicating LL, because the MF would be a general discussion, but on this thread we would be thinking about what the stats show us about Laura in particular.
It's interesting that she is in such different positions on the two polls. I imagine she is quite low down on the first because she is not so well known as some of the others to the general public? I hadn't heard of her before Strictly, anyway. She will need to dance well, and continue to show her charming personality so that people will want her to reach the latter stages of the competition to get higher on that list. As to the poll about who people think will win - she started quite high, so maybe some people put her in the "trained dancer" category, even though she isn't one? Its hard to tell, but looking at this again after a couple more weeks will be interesting. |

There's been a buzz about Laura's performance from last week. She makes a jump up in to the top four on the 'Who do people think will win?' poll having announced herself as a contender with her Waltz. She probably began the competition with one of the smallest voting bases so I'd be very happy with a gradual rise of a place or two a week on the 'Who do people most want to win?' poll as Laura & Gio capture people's imaginations with their dancing and partnership, her progression and voters are drawn to her sparkly personality. |

Probably at this stage its simply better to be rising than falling. It seems reasonable to say that Laura's waltz had a very positive public reaction so Gio and Laura are doing the right things. Whether it translates into actual votes... who knows. Its very good that Laura has the Mail on Sunday You Magazine cover this weekend as I think for her half the battle is becoming more widely known.
If anyone is following Laura's Instagram stories, I think its Gio singing in the background again at Elstree In the words of Zoe Ball - 'MAKE IT STOP'.

I think she will rise further ... as people get to know her and start enjoying the partnership and hopefully the routines too. She has a great personality.
Her salsa dress reminds me of Ali Bastians samba dress ... it does look more samba than salsa but they're going for the Moulin Rouge look so that's understandable. Hope the feathers don't get in their way ... tricky moving with all that attached to you ... perhaps they'll give it a trim! ![]() Looking forward to seeing Laura and Gio on ITT later!

Laura in this month's Hello Fashion Monthly. (Edit: Actually this came up on my news feed today - but it might be August?) Nice behind the scenes video. She looks really lovely. And something for Mick lovers too!

Please cut out the discussion of other threads and forum members. This thread is for positive discussion about Laura and Giovanni.
If this type of negative behaviour continues, we will have to start issuing suspensions and consider closing the thread. Thanks. |

I fear they're talking about some honest but not imho worse than I've seen in many other threads opinions I posted a few pages back in which case it's all old news in this thread and I am behaving myself now and afaik I've not overstepped the mark again with sarcasm and hyperbole. I'm trying not to turn into the thread's sweary Bruno.

It was an incident yesterday, the warning is fair although I do know no harm was meant at all.
Putting my bossy boots on and probably making myself unpopular but I hope the warning's heeded and all of this is kept off the thread from now on. I would be so sorry if this thread were closed, I'm becoming really invested in Laura & Gio as a partnership and it's lovely to have this space to discuss them and their dances with you all. Really excited about this weekend x |
