Looks like a good night at Bar Salsa - big smiles on everyone in that group. It kind of feels like normal life has resumed for Gio. I must admit I like Janette Manrara more and more as she seems to go the extra mile to bring friends together.

James Carney is there, who is Jason Gilkison's partner, which is good to see.

Yes - the thought of quietly trying to have a bop around the dance floor and looking up to see a glittery gang of pro dancers showing their moves RIGHT NEXT TO YOU... it is the stuff of nightmares

Have been away for a few days, so haven't caught this weekend's show yet, but really pleased that Laura and Giovanni got through without having to do another dance off.

Blimeeey, that's pressure after Ore's wonderful jive. And another quick dance for Laura. There's really only the waltz to buck the trend

Oooh Jive! Fingers crossed for great music. Well.. its Laura's dream Strictly dance and Gio's personal fave too.. so it should be a good one.

What are the Jive themes we have seen already this series?

Louise - Jump, Jive and Wail - Nautical theme / 40s
Greg - Get Ready - don't remember any particular theme to this?
Will - Rock around the Clock - very rock and roll / 50s
Ore - Runaway Baby - 60s

So... we haven't had a 'modern' jive yet.. I would guess it will be contemporary which suits Laura's personality.

Judge Rinder has a jive this week so the theme pixies will want the two jives to be a sharp contrast to each other... We have had a fireman (Ore) and a policeman (Gorka).. is it time for a cowboy? (I am going full YMCA here...)

Any thoughts?

Since you've named them, let's just go with pixies. There can be toadstools and magic

Ed was a cowboy in his charleston .

I don't think they'd go for a red indian..... 😬

Yes indeed. Judge Rinder, dressed as a pixie, sitting on a toadstool.. About right for a Strictly Jive

Random guess... I will go for something like Pharrell Williams 'Happy' for Laura's jive.

There have been a couple of versions on DWTS including last season with Marla Maples (ex-Mrs Trump )

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sDid4ZipgM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fs-zSHfxk0w

Uptempo, upbeat song that has a feel-good factor.

Now watch them give Laura some Morris-dancing themed jive horror with full maypole, jingly bells and handkerchief wafting just to really, really upset Len...

From the '5 thoughts' thread on the Main Forum, enthus-pro has once again kindly written some very interesting technical comments on the celebs including Laura:

Laura & Giovanni - she had a lot of energy and thought she came and carried out a nice quickstep. It was nice to see her with solid body contact throughout and how she pushed off to maintain frame. Maybe her left elbow drooped a bit (towards the end) and thought that she could've rotated her body in hold to the left/shorten her left side to create a better picture with her head (Len). But a better performance than last week and thought she looked more relaxed and determined.

Ooo a jive! Gio's the jive king so it should be good but poor Laura won't get a 'slow' week to relax!

I hope they don't go too cheesy with the theme but I'm guessing that's reserved for Rinder who seems to have been shoved in the novelty slot so they might escape the overly keen theming fairies!

is it not time she was given a nice relaxed dance? Was hoping for a rumba this week.

Apollo 440 - Stop the Rock ?
They would have to pick the best bits out and clean it up a bit, but it's got a driving beat!

Laura has posted an Instagram Story picture of an (I think) Egyptian monument.... without explanation. Is it .... A CLUE

Takes me straight to Walk Like An Egyptian .. there is an arrangement by the Puppini Sisters .......

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtzQSc4h0ec

Mind you Fatskia, I love the Apollo 440 track you linked, would be epic!

So we have options... pixies, toadstools, Morris Dancing, Egyptian walking... Apollo 440... ..

It is going to be Cliff Richard, isn't it.

Afternoon all

Pleased Laura’s got jive because I think she mentioned it as being the one she wants to do most. It might even be a bit easier to continue the high energy momentum from the quickstep than move to a complete contrast like rumba…but what do I know? (my silly username is just that, I’m afraid!) Hopefully it’ll be a relatively theme-free week with Hallowe’en to follow, one can hope anyway! Wardrobe love Laura so I’m sure she’ll look amazing whatever. Gio got another super shirt in the results show pro group dance 

Thanks for all your posts and reviews, really enjoy reading them.

That could be used for a Jive!

Dervla - You simply CANNOT have Wilson and Keppel sand-dancing Without BETTY!

Fatskia... Just applying sticking plaster to my ears after listening to that... But it increases the chances of Walk Like An Egyptian if its already been arranged for the show....

Lewis.... Actually... smart thinking there - I could imagine a jive/Irish Dancing fusion thingy... but I think Gio would rather pull his own fingernails out with pliers than mess with the Purity of Jive.

Ochre - Ooh ITT tonight - wasn't expecting that - thanks for tip off.

MissDaisy - I want to see Laura dancing her favourite dance as well and you have a good point about the high energy momentum carrying her along this week. But.. a theme-free week? Nevah Evah going to happen on Strickly

Remember, a theme-free week means a theme-free Kevin.... and who could possibly imagine THAT

(Disclaimer: I like Kevin. Brilliant dancer. But he does like a rummage in the dressing-up box)

I am really pleased she's got the jive, especially if she's keen to dance it!

I was kind of hoping for something slower though, so we and everyone else could see that gorgeous chemistry from their waltz shine through again. I have no doubt they'll be great though!

I feel like seeing as Laura's done Irish dancing, she will excell in the Jive.
