ITT Tonight, Week 5

Zoe and Laura are comparing shoes as the interview begins, Laura tells Gio she likes his shoes too and Zoe comments on how shiny they are

Both looking gorgeous, here's a pic with Neil, Chloe, Daisy, Aljaz, Naga and Pasha. Sitting between Aljaz and Gio, Laura is a lucky lady

On whether she felt relieved getting through to Week 5 . . .

Laura: 'Yeah, it's weird though because you still, after last week as well, you don't know and everyone's so good in this competition so even though I went out there and I enjoyed it you still don't know which way it's going to go. But I really enjoyed doing that dance.'

On the content packed Quickstep choreo . . .

Gio: 'After the dance off I thought we've just got to smash it. Let's do a quick routine, a fast routine and difficult as well.'

Laura: 'It was so fast though, when we were rehearsing, our studio is quite small and we kept crashing in to the wall () so I was just so scared I was going to go flying in to someone in the audience or in to a camera.'

Zoe says we'd have loved watching that on repeat if they had done ha ha.

On being joint third on the leaderboard and receiving their best score (33) to date . . .

Laura: 'Yeah it was nice because you don't know if nerves are going to take over . . . I have been quite nervous so far but every week I feel I'm getting to grips a little bit better with them and it was so fast I didn't have time to think.'

Gio: 'We always say don't think about the scores, think about the dance, comments and every week it's a different dance.'

Laura: 'You want the judges to give you some nice comments but also you want people at home to watch it and enjoy it.' Laura has had some nice messages from people saying how much they enjoyed watching her and Gio

On Len's 'Pickled Walnuts' comment . . .

Laura says she doesn't know what it means Zoe that it means he loves you lol.

Zoe comments that must have boosted her confidence going in to the next dance.

Laura: 'I don't know because the standard's so good and fine if I was doing the Quickstep again but now I've got to do another dance . . . '

The Jive

Laura: 'It's not like anyone's done that before brilliantly . . . ' Ore

Gio: 'No pressure'.

Laura: 'Well I thought the Quickstep was fast but apparently that was a walk in the park.'

Mick time . . . gorgeous photo of him shown.

Zoe comments there's been lots of love for Mick online, Laura and Gio say more than us

On how Mick's coping with his new found fame . . .

Laura: 'It's going to give him a massive head now. He's so demanding, I asked him to come here tonight but he had something else on.'

Apparently Mick runs to Giovanni before Laura now, awwwww.

Haven't had time to begin training for the Jive before this interview but Zoe asks Gio what he's got in store for Laura.

Gio: 'Jive is my favourite dance so I'll make sure it's going to be absolutely brilliant. After last week I know it's difficult after Ore but we've just got to enjoy it.'

Gio messaged Laura saying the routine was all there in his head, sounds like it's going to be another content packed dance. Awesome.

Zoe asks Laura to bring Mick in some time, yes please!

Can't wait to find out tomorrow what their Jive song is

Nice interview again on ITT. Edit: Brill recap Ochre - Many thanks for spending the time to do this!

Agree they both seem relaxed and happy - it's a great partnership now.

It looks as if Gio has taken Joanne's choreo standard for Ore as a challenge and unleashed the Jive choreo from hell on Laura All I can say is that I hope she still has some knee cartilage left by the live show on Saturday..I think the training is going to be murderous. A bit like Quickstep week, they have to aim for the high judges' scores... Let's see

Mick! 'He is more popular on social media than we are'

OT Dress watch - Laura was in a glam cocktail dress on ITT this evening - I wonder if she is off out with Daisy/Alijaz and Naga later? Lovely colour on her, but the spaghetti straps made the neckline maybe a touch too evening-wear for a tea-time show. Gio rocking another elegant grey suit - very Milan.

Mind you Fatskia, I love the Apollo 440 track you linked, would be epic!

So we have options... pixies, toadstools, Morris Dancing, Egyptian walking... Apollo 440... ..

It is going to be Cliff Richard, isn't it. ”

Ooo I never thought I'd have a use for my archaeological knowledge on a strictly forum! I'm 99% sure it's not Egyptian, it looks like a 20th c modern art type thing to me, concretey. But apart from 'it doesn't look old' I have no idea. But ha it'd just be my luck to get it totally wrong on my one chance to show off about ye olde stuff!

Anyway as long as it's not Cliff. I hope it's not Cliff. Please no Cliff. Apologies to any Cliff fans but I'm still haunted by millennium prayer.

The Dancing Times blog for Week 4 is out - fair review for Laura and Gio (not so much for Mick - boo!)

Oof. This was a long, long, long way to go for a terrible joke about Laura’s dog. Please, next week just hold up a sign saying “We’re out of ideas and for some reason refuse to show training footage”. This quickstep never paused for breath, though could have done with more light and shade – it lacked dynamics. Also needed more drive from the standing leg, rather than skipping, and some strange things going on with Laura’s head position and raised left shoulder. Decent (if overmarked) post-bottom two effort.

Haha thanks I was just about to post that! Good to see them smiling and Laura not collapsed in a crumpled heap on the floor (which she might be if Gio wasn't carrying her ) Looking forward to finding out the song.

Not sure why they've given Reet Petite to Laura with Claudia in the competition But it is a fab jive song!

Fab Jive song... and absolutely NO Egyptian connection at all. Really, really happy. It is an uplifting song with lovely energy so it will suit both of them. And it should be sung beautifully by lovely Lance so ... umm... not as much wailing as in previous weeks.

Rinder has a Jive to 'Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy' by The Andrews Sisters. I am a bit surprised actually, the two songs are not dissimilar. But I guess they will dress him up as a boy scout or something?

The Pasha/Gio/Oti moments on ITT in the Booth of Truth were hilarious in unintentional ways. But I CAN believe that Gio has rather a lot of shoes..

Denise V.O and James Jordan Jive to Reet Petite Edit: Its a Jive/QS fusion...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yq4oxyMLld4

For a contrast, the amazing Michael Malitowski & Joanna Leunis
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDa79z0DeLg

and finally.. Amber Riley and Derek Hough on DWTS
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WVaCK2xHqQ

It is great music, I am very happy with that outcome.

Liking the Booth of Truth . . . The Italian Stallion with lots of shoes who fibs as to how late he'll be

Oti had me in stitches with her crush on Aljaz and fibbing to Danny he was good in training

Yes indeed Ochre. I am a bit that the pro dancers weren't 'helped' to some better answers!

Actually, I take that back. Maybe these WERE the better answers.....

Random OT point - the Sam Smith version of How Will I Know is indeed the music playing the background of the mystery Gio and Oti Rumba clip. I didn't recognise it.
