Is Young Will a Moody Diva ? - or a Happy Go Lucky Bubbly Hunky Lamb ?

Some have commented already about the moody diva impression, for me he seems like someone who has had past troubles but has come through them smiling.

What about you ?

Should he give up smoking ?

Is his previous dancing experience an unfair advantage ?

What do you like or not like about him ?

Heck, I missed the moody lamb phase entirely. Seems a pleasant bloke.

Yes, give up smoking.

Yes, do time travel to elide former dance training.

Much prefer this year's pop boy to last year's model.

I like his self-deprecating ways and his air of kindness. Against that he seems quite media savvy -- but not in an evil moody lamb way. Not a baaad bone in his body.

Hope this helps.

I love Will Young. I hope the old chestnut of 'previous dance training' doesn't dominate the forum this year. They all have some advantages, whether it's being used to performing, a sportsperson's competitiveness or being comfortable in front of cameras and audiences.

Oh it will ... people can't give it up unless it concerns a favourite of theirs ... then they overlook it or play it down (all ringahs are equal ... but some are more equal than others! )
I wouldn't worry ... the voting public don't really care about these things.

I would not say that Will is a moody Diva. As someone who has followed his singing career since Pop Idol I have read things about him. In his last book Funny Peculiar and also in several interviews he has been honest and frank about his issues with self confidence and depression. He said himself when he was going through this he went through a "diva" stage but quickly realised and stopped.

On stage he is always really funny and I believe he is genuinely a "good egg" who does so much for charity and really cares about things.

But like anyone with a history of depression, there may be times when his mood may get the better of him.

I have always thought Will is great and I hope he does well in the competition.

Just an incredible singer. Jury is out on the dancing as yet. However Will Young a diva? He must be one of the most self deprecating celebs ever!

Is Terry22M winding us up with his threads? And it's only the 2nd day, too

Guilty as charged I'm a self-confessed hypocrite when it comes to deciding whether someone's a dirty ringah based on my own random likes and dislikes.

I generally go with the flow these days, though. Unless someone claims something completely ridiculous like, oh I don't know, that Bob Fosse choreography allows you to just have a nice sit down for an entire show

How very strange some Celebs over the years have got hammered on here if they have had Dance Training but for others all sort of excuses are made. I wonder what the difference is.

My company has done a lot of work for Will Young all my colleagues that have met or spoken with him say he's lovely.

Don't think he's a diva at all.

He was lovely when I met him and very funny. He has tried to give up smoking but it is very difficult.

I'm saying it once, I'm going to ignore all his silly attention seeking topics.

I agree, I am not going to rise to the bait this year, not even when he will inevitably bring up the subject of the ghastly "Widdy"

Will does seem like a very warm and kind person, he has clearly been through some tough times in recent years but its good to see that he is still smiling BeeBumble.

I have liked him ever since pop idol and followed his career. I hope he does well, he is a throughly nice guy. I do hope he won't be tarred with the "dance training brush". He says he had never done ballroom or Latin. Let's give him a chance.

That's the impression I get fred, I'm sure that everyone hopes that Will will do well, and that they will all give him a fair chance on the show.

Seconded.

Thanks for adding so much to the discussion.

I think Will is totally down to earth, hardworking, well-mannered, talented and very likeable. Hopefully he will do well in Strictly and enjoy every second of it all.

I think he's a bit of both. I like him though and he'll be my favourite contestant unless someone else interests me more, which I doubt.

I tend to ignore the compulsive attention seekers. There is a forum out there where one attention seeker have five or six ''headline threads'' every day, 365 days a year, that's what I call boring.

These prolific new threads are disruptive and annoying in this forum, if one poster wants to post their opinions, maybe keep it ALL on one thread, that the rest of us can avoid.

There are other programe discussion threads and celebrities threads where these very topics are being discussed in conversation in an adult way and organised. But this year these threads are beyond a joke and taking up half the first page if this forum.

Can the OPs please keep thier thoughts to the programe threads, or keep them all on one thread. PLEASE.

I think that all performers have a bit of a diva in them Poppy which makes them interesting and entertaining to watch.

I definitely like Will and he is already one of my favourites that I look forward to discussing with you and others over the coming weeks.
