Too late!!!!!

I've asked mods to change it but that will take a while I guess.

Worst thing is, someone else put 2017 in a thread title last night and I pointed it out to them!

D'oh

BBC Strictly Press (@bbcstrictlyPR) tweeted at 9:36 a.m. on Sun, Sep 04, 2016:

The official ratings for the launch show have been released and the final figure was 10.43 million viewers! (Thanks to rzt on GB).

This is the "consolidated" figure - which includes the viewers who have time-shifted the show to watch it. So some 1.17m viewers were added to the original overnight figure.

The figure is over 600,000 up on last year and is the first time the launch show has broken the 10m mark!

The ratings for last night's opening show......

Strictly Come Dancing: 7.21m (34.4%)
* peak: 7.56m (35.3%)

Previous SCD launch overnights:
2015 – 7.68m (36.4%)
2014 – 6.53m (28.5%) *clashed against X Factor
2013 – 7.81m (35.2%)
2012 – 8.00m (34.0%)
2011 – 7.98m (33.1%)
2010 – 9.05m (38.2%)

I think going out at 9.00p.m. may have slightly dented the numbers!

(Thanks to rzt on GB)

That is absolutely stunning! By comparison, the US' 2nd week DWTS had 10.71 million viewers though the US population is 5 times as much as the UK.

This would seem to bode well for the Saturday live show. Doesn't that usually get more than the Friday one?

So as last year, the presence of an irascible and selfish octogenarian, who tried to make it his show, has not been missed?

Not at all. For me (and I'm sure many others) the show is much better without him.

SCD shows people choose it, and then most avoid the dead in the water XF. XFs rating is an embarrassment.

XF is receiving considerable negative press, the final 12, bad choices by judges, who are out of touch, then the judges being drunk, contestants backgrounds not being checked into, Louis having a go at Dermot.

They should cut the judges pay, and put that money saved into higher production standards, better background research, and have judges that can sing, and are at a age that they can relate to pop music, and the target teenager market can relate to them.

SCD has high production standards, well organised, the team, is all fantastic.

Funny the XF forum had its own ratings thread, that somehow has gone missing, AWOL.
