9.78m this week (10.76m peak).

I won't add what XFactor got because that might be in bad taste but....ouch...

XF in the five millions, so will the last XF viewer switch the lights out when you realise it's a scripted pantomime.

The decline of the X Factor is shocking, and yet ITV have renewed it for another four years!

The Week 5 show, (Saturday October 22nd), got ratings of 10.07m - an audience share of 46.6% (The equivalent show last year had a figure of 9.3m)

Viewing peaked at 10.81m (48.5%) at 19.55

This is the first time Strictly has hit the 10.0m mark in October since the 2011 Halloween show!

By comparison, last night's X Factor had 5.94m viewers, (28.9%) - that includes +1 viewing.

I see there is a thread on the first page "Show needs New Hosts" - with viewing figures like these, I think Claudia & Tess are very secure in their roles!!

Agree.

What we can see is:-

SCD is much loved, improving and table ratings, and a commanding 4 million ahead of XF.

XF is haemorrhaging viewers at a massive rate, the panel, being very old, bar Nicole for its pop market teen market is just not engaging with viewers. Louis away with the faries, Simon as rude as he ever was and as arrogant, Sharon, well just not engaged.

The constant changes of presenters and panel the bloated show full of filler, and poor choices has annoyed its loyal fans.

The ratings reflect what I've observed at work and amongst my friends/family over the years - a gradual switch from watching both shows or just TXF, to watching just Strictly and thinking TXF has become a pile of rubbish.

Yep, in my large office in say 2010 on a Monday it was did you watch XF last night?

Now nothing, it's all SCD and even at least one has a SCD Mobile theme on their phone.

All the talk is SCD , nothing on XF it died a few years back.

Wow well done Strictly. We haven't watched X Factor for years, it was just the same old same old. Time for it to go but if it did it would only be replaced with something similar.

Well

1/ ITV has The Voice, simulator but more classy.
2/ Four million difference, XF is dead, very dead.

So pleased for SCD . A lovely family show. Been with it since its inception .

I think I love it more- especially with the exceptional celeb dancers this year. I don't particularly want anyone to be eliminated at the moment until the dance off produces one good dancer and another poorer celeb.

I still think the reason why this years SCD is so popular is down to the celebrities this year. They are popular in their own way.

Had this years celebrities all been fake wannabe's from shows like TOWIE, Made In Chealsea or Geordie Shaw, some one hit wonders from the 00's and a token actor who once starred in Byker Grove but nobody remembers, I doubt SCD would be pulling in as big numbers

X Factor is failing because...well, it's a complete and utter FAIL!!! I'm amazed that show is even getting 5.9 million viewers a week with this year crop of crap.

Some rating news & figures for last night's show from Blackpool!

The BBC tweeted....

BBC Strictly Press ‏@bbcstrictlyPR 5m5 minutes ago
Last night's Strictly Blackpool Special was watched by a peak audience of 11.9m! Average was 10.7m & 47.9% share. Most watched show on TV! ✨

The tape checked figures were even better - showing an audience of 10.97m (48.8 audience share).

('Tape Checking' involves ensuring that the actual start and end times of a programme are correctly identified, rather than relying on the scheduled times. For example, if the preceding show overruns, the tape checked figures are recorded from the time that the following show actually starts!)

Quick overview of ratings for last night's big shows, (tape checked)....

SCD: 10.97m (48.8%) - peaked at 11.89m (51.4%) at 20:00

Michael McIntrye's Big Show : 6.18m (28.5%)

X Factor : 6.13m (28.2%)

I'm A Celebrity : 7.98m (38.0%)

That rating for Strictly's Blackpool show is the third biggest rating for that show. The 2010 show averaged 11.35m (45.3%), while it did 11.35m (43.7%) in 2011.

Overall, it was the highest overnight ratings for Strictly, (excluding Finals), since 2011.
