Excellent for SCD and XF is as we know, DEAD. Will the last XF viewer next week, remember to switch the lights off when they leave?

I can't believe that ITV still allow X Factor to take precedent over IAC on a Saturday night, when it gets over 3 million more viewers and is easily the more popular show. It didn't statrt till almost 10pm on Saturday, meaning it was on far to late for younger viewers to enjoy. I suppose they are trying to keep Mr Potato Head Cowell sweet, but quite frankly he needs dragging down a peg or two, especially when his flagship show is dying on its arse.

Agee, in fact clearly the very under performing XF Damaged IAC ratings on Saturday, they should have been swapped.

Wow Strictly is storming!

X Factor doing well too...all things considered even being beaten by Strictly.

I think both shows are safe to continue for years to come. Ratings are so down for every show right now.

The nature of watching TV has changed so much over the years and that has massively impacted upon the viewing figures that shows receive nowadays.

The growth in the number of channels available, even though, individually, many of them do not obtain huge viewing figures [going by the DS Ratings & Broadcast threads],, their cumulative impact has had a big effect on the main "terrestrial" channels!

From posts on the Ratings Thread, the top shows in the mid & late 1990's were getting
17-19 million viewers! Nowadays, a "live" overnight figure of 10 million is a huge achievement.

So for Strictly to keep gaining these ratings, both for the live show on Saturday night and for the recorded Sunday night Results Show is terrific!

As you say, it's future looks guaranteed!

If the growth in the number of channels is responsible for shows getting fewer viewers, then what we'd see is that their share went down while the total number of viewers (across all channels) remained the same. IS that what the numbers look like?

However, I agree that Strictly has done very well at keeping its audience size up (as has "I'm a Celebrity" BTW).

Does anyone think that the DS foreign has a similar percentage?

I don't know about other countries but I think that age break down certainly does for the theory that X Factor-switching voters are the deciding vote in the final. You have to win the grey-haired vote if you want to win Strictly.
