Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Thread (Part 13)
Continuation of: Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Thread (Part 12) Quote:
Based on Pogba's performance in the Euro's and his transfer price, I say we got the better deal though paying £30m for Sissoko was still far, far too much in my book. But I guess its a sellers market, especially when its a Premier League club buying!

Alli, Onomah, Winks etc do fall into the unlimited U21 list though! |

So its going to be interesting to see what our starting line-up is going to be now and whether Poch throws Sissoko and N'koudou straight in there. I wonder if we will see a bit more rotation in the PL games?
Certainly our bench is going to look a lot better. |

Help me out folks but - just for giggles assume the first choice eleven from last season - I don't remember a better bench at Tottenham:
Vorm/Lopez, defender, defender, Wanyama, Sissoko, NK, Jannsen? One of NK and Sonny may not make the fully fit match day 18. Behind that there's the other of CCV/Wimmer and Davies/Trippy, plus Onomah, Winks, Carroll. And the brightest Academy prospects: KWP, Harrison, Edwards. Shifting seven out and bringing in some muscle certainly changed that squad.. |

. ![]() Poch has proper options now so I guess he will plot ahead and use what look to be the best options against that opposition / how they play at home vs. away / whre they're exposed, etc. An obv. ploy might be that NK is a starter because of that raw pace and *another* might come on once the full back is booked and knackered .. or not. That was one thing I used to love about Lennon, he did a good job of getting his full back in the book. |

With Dembele still out for one more game, I imagine Sissoko will go straight in to the side to face Stoke. Ideally, you'd also have an attacking three of Lamela, Alli and N'Koudou as well with Eriksen starting from the bench.
But then with the league cup commitments starting at the same time as the champions league, everyone is going to get some decent playing time either way. |

Hart
Walker - Cahill - Stones - Rose Dier - Henderson Lallana - Rooney - Sterling Kane 4 out of 5 starting. If ever Kane needed a goal its in this game. |

I do wonder if Kane's slow start in terms of goals is going to become the norm every season. |

H has apparently never scored in August in his entire career, so it's almost guaranteed that he'll pop a few in for England

New thread, new season ... predictions, anyone?
Premiership: so, so tough: 4th/5th, a much improved chance of 4th after this window CL: Beyond the group stage FA nonsense Cup: As soon as Poch can engineer an even slightly dignified exit Two bob Tuesday Cup: God help us .. put out the Ladies team. Your final thoughts in a nutshell, Gary: First we have to get to mid/end-January in good shape, then it's all about how we push on; pressures mount, every game is vital and we will play under those conditions at least twice a week - squad and club totally tested: bring it on

The only prediction I will make is that inconsistency has always been our biggest enemy and I am expecting that to continue. Inevitably there will be highs and lows again during the season and can only hope that the former will outnumber the latter.
The Manager's and the team's lack of tactical nous in breaking down teams that defend stubbornly still worries me as does my concern that other teams have us sussed and we look worryingly inept at defending set pieces. So, personally, I will be looking for huge improvements in those areas and from our key players generally. |

Holy christmas, a new thread!
I'll have to win this one just like i won the last one ![]() Anyway, we're long overdue for some silverware so i'd very happy if we managed to land some. I'm not fussy which competition of course ![]() Didn't we go through about 3 managers with the last thread as well ? |

I'm sure similar things were said about Kane at the start of last season and he sorted it out and ended up scoring more than the season before.
If the number of games gets to double figures though, i think that is the point you start to be concerned - not before. |

Have to say that Kane looked terrible last night. Not only the complete airship at the cross but his inability to control the ball or do anything productive. I know we're all taking comfort in the fact that the same thing happened last season but it really is unacceptable to simply write off the first half dozen games of the season in terms of his contribution.

This is great - a new form of criticism; Kane doesn't score 25 goals a season ... at an even enough rate
Hang on, I'll just update: Levy out! Poch out! Enic out! Eriksen out! Kane out! |

In Kane's defence, you can only be as good as the players around you. Last night he had Sterling, Lallana, Rooney and Henderson supposedly supporting him. Rooney generally played too deep, Sterling too wide and Lallana was all over the shop. For much of the game none of them were specifically looking to play off Kane or play him in and as Dixon pointed out at HT England's attacking play was ponderous and Kane spent too much time with his back to their goal.
It wasn't until Alli came on England started playing narrower up top and pushing Rose and Walker up the flanks that Kane got more involved and England looked the better for it. Still, no excuse for him missing the sitter in the first half. |

I miss the guy who posted for a little while last season who wanted Poch out because he wasn't cheerful enough in interviews.
Criticise and critique: there can be a difference
