Well so far so .. "ok" .. i think. Despite his goal, I actually think Eriksen has been "ok" as well. For me, Harry Winks has been our best player that half. He was all over the place and making things happen. Hugely impressive.
Janssen has had it hard because he's being man marked as soon as we get the ball in their half, so i'm hoping he can get something out of it. Just one goal even, that might be all he needs to get going. |

Gillingham are giving us so much space to play our passing game that if anything, we are over elaborating, trying to walk through the middle of their defence. If we could deliver a final ball a fraction quicker I think we'll have more success.
However, the youngsters in the team are playing well. CCV looks comfortable but not as comfortable as Wimmer who's playing like a clone of Toby, calmness personified. Trippier has but in some decent crosses, Janssen looks rusty, his timing isn't quite there but he's getting in good positions. Eriksen is running the game but he always does against lower ranked teams. Lamela is being Lamela, pressing hard and trying to dink the perfect through ball into Janssen. We just need to quicken our final ball in the 2H and Gillingham will wilt. We can't afford to give them even half a chance or we risk getting dragged into a nail biting final 5 mins. |

Game over. In theory the pressure is off now so we should see plenty more goals.

Glad he had the confidence to take that penalty. Off and running.

Yeah, job done and done as expected really. Thought Harry Winks was excellent.
Good to see N'Koudou finally getting some game time as well. |

They might surprise us though - a lot of the players tonight seemed far more tuned in to the pass and move idea and keeping the ball flowing around. |

agree with you Jason, we stepped up the tempo as soon as the 2H kicked off and our movement and passing looked more like a traditional Spurs side.
Still need to work on our shooting though it was nice to see Eriksen, Lamela and Onomah actually not hit them straight at the keeper. Edwards created a nice chance for himself at the end but it went straight at the keeper who just had to get a hand on it. Anyway, nice win and it will have boosted the confidence of the youngsters especially. |

Fantastic draw for me. Going to be a race to the bottom in terms of who is the more desperate to bail out. Times like this I wish we hadn't sold Andros :d

Liverpool will take this very seriously. They have no euro games to distract them and Klopp is desperate to win something.

He never looked that diminutive in the low-res at a distance youth match clips that I've seen. No wonder Poch said he had a low centre of gravity.

I can't understand why Wimmer is not making the bench for PL games now? He recovered from his hamstring niggle over a month ago and as last night's game proved, he is still the next most assured CB, despite the development of CCV.
I get the feeling that if Wimmer does move on and gets regular game time somewhere else that he'll end up becoming very good indeed. |
