Dembele and Dier not being risked apparently which is fine with me, although it takes a few injuries for us to actually put out a balanced side seemingly.

not going to make it home for kickoff at this rate ..

Alli should have made it 3 and game won. Hope we dont pay for that. He has a knack of ballooning it over the bar for club and country a bit too regular for my liking.

Yeah that was a bit of a sitter.

Good half though. Moved the ball around well and created some decent chances. I'd like at least one more to be sure but not looking too shabby so far.

Yes thats our best first half all season. No sluggish start, getting at them from the off. I like this formation. Need to keep that intensity for the second half.

Harry, Rose, Dembele and Dier: 4 important injuries and we're still right on it - that's the big difference now. Interesting to see the new boys are doing okay in this formation: all good

Assuming the gap stays at 2+, maybe another 20 mins. for NK ...

Janssen making some good runs and getting in to some decent positions. Just needs a bit of luck

Squeaky bum time. At premiership level if you dont take your chances you get punished. Even against Middlesborough ! A test of our backbone now.

Doesnt help that he isnt getting much service, with those behind him either taking a few too many touches in an attempt to get themselves into a better position, or just shooting from outsise the box. Hopefully the introduction of Lamela may provide him with more opportunity.

Gibson is lucky he didn't get a card there

Very true - not many attempts to play him in at all. Seen him with his hand up loads of times and still doesn't get the ball.

One of those penalties earlier would have been nice ...

Anyway, job done. Just about.

Our best start to a top flight season for 51 years: Poch out!

Phew ! If theres anything to be learned today is that you MUST TAKE YOUR CHANCES.

Better teams would have punished our wasted chances today.

Went a bit flat in the second half and hung on a bit at the end, although that in itself isn't really an indicator of much. Good performance though and a welcome win.

Hopefully we can replicate that in the week as well.

The real acid test will be next Sunday though.

On this site Harry is down to return mid November - so 8 weeks. Probably overly conservative but not good.

Rose, Dier and Dembele return this week, and I see Sissoko is down with concussion - no date yet:
