Sissoko did look a bit out of it when he went off yesterday so that doesn't surprise me.
Ideally he'll be in contention next weekend at least. If Kane is definitely out for 8 weeks, which I can't honestly see how they'd know as the club haven't even sent him for a second scan yet, then it looks like it's not the "grade one" (or whatever the word was) injury they'd feared which would have kept him out for 12 weeks. |

I haven't seen any of the game yesterday, how did Janssen look overall?

I thought he was fine. Made the runs, held the ball up well and got in to some good positions - but - he wasn't getting a lot of service so he did tend to snap a lot at what he did get.
He does tend to play out wide a lot I've noticed as well. I don't know if he's been told to do this, but where Kane tends to stay fairly central, Janssen will often be found on the far left or far right of the area. It'll be interesting to watch over the coming weeks though as this will be a far bigger chance than Soldado ever had when he was with us. I know he had a run of games initially when he signed, but I don't think it was as many as Janssen will get over the coming weeks. |

Jason mentioned the 'S' word, I do hope Janssen can get off the mark soon from open play and not become the Dutch equivalent. |

I certainly hope he doesn't become the new "S" either
![]() I remember watching something, it might have been MOTD, where they were talking about Soldado though and they said that if you compared him to when he started with us, you could see that he'd stopped making the runs or trying to get in to a scoring position because he knew that the ball likely wasn't coming, so hopefully we won't get to that stage with Janssen. But being more selfish probably isn't a bad thing because it clearly works for Kane, even though that selfishness does also cause problems from an attacking perspective when he elects to shoot when there's a better option. He's certainly got the physique and temprament for the premiership so hopefully the ball will go in off his backside or something and he'll start knocking them in regularly. |

I'm surprised there hasn't been more mention of Sonny. He is now our leading goal scorer this term and I guess we have to be thankful he has found some goal scoring form after Kane's and Janssen's struggles to get off the mark. He seems to have upped his game after it looked like we might sell him in the Summer. He certainly will do wonders for shirt sales in the far east!

Yes, it's great for Sonny. The start to a second season in the Premiership you'd hope for a £20 mill (and some) player. Been a while now since we bought a deal dud ...

Good news. Quote:
Mauricio Pochettino says Tottenham have received "very positive" news about Harry Kane's ankle injury, but again refused to put a timeframe on the striker's recovery.
"It's much, much better than we expected. We are happy, the scan was very positive. We're very, very happy about this news. But still we cannot give a time of how long it'll be to recovery. "Be sure we're happy because the scan was better than we expected but I am not a doctor -- it's hard to say one, two, three weeks but it's much, much, much better than we expected. |

All this "I'm not a doctor" is crap. He'll have been told exactly what the state of the injury is and how long Kane will be out, so why not just say so ?. Obviously it'll be good to have him back sooner rather than later, but I just don't buy this nonsense that Poch doesn't know how long.
And certainly good to see Sonny in form as well. I know when he was signed originally, he was primarily a wide player anyway but we were told he was a backup striker. I suppose playing in his preferred position and being a lot more settled is paying dividends. |

Good news. It'll keep the opposition guessing as well.

Interesting that Poch is hinting that Sonny might play up front tonight v CSKA. I don't think he is the type of player who can lead the line but with our injury list, I guess there will be some formation changes required. The media already have Dele Alli down to play as CM alongside Wanyama. |

In his last full season for Leverkusen, Sonny scored 17 goals in all competitions. So he does have goals in him.

Maybe its REALLY good news and he just wants to keep Pep guessing. Or maybe he wants to anyway regardless of how good the news is.
It's just ticked me off I suppose because we've got a state of the art training center with, I assume, similarly advanced medical facilities as well and we're supposed to buy that nobody apparently knows how long Kane will be out. |

I can just picture the scene now. We come out on Sunday, and it takes everyone a while to realise we've only named 10 players. then the lights go out, and everyone's thrown into confusion. a deathly hush falls upon a packed White Hart Lane. then suddenly Kane's theme music hits, accompanied by explosions and pyrotechnics and...no it can't be....it's...it's...BY GOD, IT'S KANE!!!!! (Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler are on commentary, naturally). The crowd go absolutely INSANE! The camera pans around the Man City team. Pep is standing with hands on his head, his face an utter picture of despair. Stones and Otamendi are both frozen in disbelief. Fernandinho starts to run off the pitch altogether....this was not in the script

It won't be 4-3-3, at least from the start - Poch won't deviate from the usual.
The attacking half of the team will be Lamela, Eriksen and Son playing behind Janssen. Obviously they'll switch it up throughout the game and they might switch to 4-3-3 at some point, but it won't deviate too far from 4-2-3-1. Good, strong side though so hopefully we can pick up the points. |
