So, Saturday is the first time this season where we play before everybody else knowing that a win will put us top of the league (even if for just a few hours)
I'm expecting wins for Arsenal, Liverpool and City though based on the fixtures. Chelsea and United play each other so either of those will drop some points. 1-0 to Bournemouth it is then!! |

Also reading that Poch apparently took great exception to a question in the post match presser that asked if Kevin Wimmer's future at the club was in doubt given that he didn't even make the bench - again - last night.
It's honestly baffling as to how Wimmer is being treated at the moment. I can only guess that his attitude towards training and not playing has taken a nosedive and that's why he's essentially being frozen out. |

No surprise that Lloris was voted MotM after Tuesday's performance.

I think its more about CCV than Wimmer. Wimmer has never, ever shown top 4 potential. Very similar in some ways to Michael Dawson before him.
Personally, I would like to see him play more games before coming to any conclusion on whether he is another Dawson or Vertonghen. I am a big fan of CCV and hope he progresses with us but he has limited experience at senior level and would benefit greatly from a season long loan. Sunderland or Burnley would be ideal as both have leaky defences and we would get to see whether he has the quality to make a difference to them. Last point is that CCV is a right-sided CB while Wimmer if left-sided so I don't think it's a case of it being one or the other only in the squad. In addition we seem to be actively seeking CBs and a LWB whereas imo we should be seeking better competition for our front 5. |

The only counter point I'd make is my gran would look good next to Toby. Except in pressure situations when fractions, body weight distribution and positioning matter, that was his shortcoming - still time to improve but it seems for the moment Poch has the home grown acadamy player ahead.

What you are talking about there Andy is learned through experience, through game time against different types of opposition. CCV would be exactly the same as he hasn't yet faced PL quality opposition on a regular basis. Inexperienced players make mistakes, it's how they hopefully learn to become better players.

This is interesting .. Quote:
Mauricio Pochettino wants greater control of transfer policy at Tottenham Hotspur and has told Daniel Levy that he does not want him to find a direct replacement for the club’s departing head of recruitment, Paul Mitchell. …The Tottenham chairman is likely to bow to Pochettino’s wishes and move away from the sporting director model he introduced at White Hart Lane. Mitchell is due to leave Tottenham in December after handing in his notice last August, less than two years after joining from Southampton, where he also worked with Pochettino. Contrary to many reports, the 35-year-old was not recruited by Pochettino, http://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/sp...fers-nmszk38dt If this is true, and we do move away from the Sporting Director model, it'll be a huge deal as it's the set-up that our glorious leader has favored for a very, very long time. Also the game tomorrow is apparently showing for 'free' on Sky Sports Mix as well which is handy. |

Might sound good on paper but the long term reality may not be as rosey. Unfortunately it will inevitably lead to direct conflict between Poch and Levy with no middle man between them.......and theres only one winner there.
The last person who did that was Redknapp and he pretty much had Levy by the balls anyway because of the trouble we were in league-wise when he joined. |

tbf, any of us could have written that.
"Matt Hughes, Deputy Football Correspondent" is stating the obv. dressed up like it's interesting i.e. they're not looking to replace Mitchel, yet Quite interesting as it does remind us we do have a squad Wholesale change not needed.

Don't forget, early doors kick off today, folks!
Bless Eddie Howe for playing football - it plays right into our hands. All things being equal, if we don't beat Bournemouth today it will be very, very .. unfortunate. Official team news: http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news...m-news-201016/ |

Looks like we're back to 4-2-3-1 today with Dembele and Wanyama together for (i think) the first time. Could have some potential

Suprised to see Janssen out again as I would have thought that this would be a golden opportunity for him to score. There should be no fear and no excuses today. This is the sort of game we should be winning with ease, like Middlesborough.

The good and the bad of Lamela summed up in 30 seconds. He's a walking red now.

Well thats half an hour of our life that we will never get back. When will our sterile first halfs be addressed. So poor in the majority of them this season.

Lamela subbed at half time or he's getting a red.

I've said it before and i'll say it again, we are completely and utterly toothless up front. We need strikers on the pitch. I think you either give up on Janssen or you play him, simple as that. This game is taylor made for his strengths, terrible decision from Poch to play Son who may as well have sat in the crowd signing autographs in that half. Think Son will stay on purely because Lamela's stupidity will see him subbed. It seems we really do have a meltdown every time we have the chance to go top.
