Our pre christmas fixtures are very kind. Our next 3 home games are huge, it simply HAS to be 9 points against Swansea, Hull and Burnley. In between that a trip against Man Utd who are in a worse state then us and CSKA.

5 wins ?

Agree that in our next 3 home games that anything but 9 points is acceptable.

I also agree with you in your previous post that if there was one manager that I would want instead of Poch at present then it would be Benitez.

I still also think though that we do as a club need a bit of stability and that chopping and changing managers hasn't helped us in the past.

So 3 draws would be acceptable to you, surely you mean unacceptable

if we can't get 9 points against that lot, then we have bigger problems than I thought.

We beat City then went on poor run of draws only scraping a win v West Ham. I'm hoping losing to Chelsea will kick-off a run of wins now!

Agreed. We couldnt have asked for a better run of home games and the Man Utd circus happening at the moment.

Sissoko's £30m transfer seems to be getting a lot of focus this week, as one of our failures. Poch appears to be criticising him in the media for his lack of work rate. Appears that Sissoko is not even making the bench because he is not making the effort in training. Rumours that we are looking to offload him already and cut our losses.

Newcastle must have been laughing all the way to the bank with that deal.

It does seem strange that we paid £30m for Sissoko yet were baulking at paying anywhere near that amount for a striker.

Not sure how Poch so publicly criticising him and reaffirming everyones opinion that he is a waste of space, is going to help us to offload him. We cant cut our losses even if we wanted to. Sissoko is on a huge contract. No club in world football would be mad enough to match what we are paying him and he is the type of mercenary who isnt going to take a pay cut. It will be Adebayor all over again. The worst thing is, this whole debacle is a suprise to no-one (except Poch). The REAL kick in the guts for all of us is that, apart from us paying him off to get rid of him, Sissoko will be here for every day of that lucrative 5 year contract............long after players we love have left

As opposed to his last one which ran through to 2021

Suprised its "only" £90,000 a week though.

I see the club has taken great care to point out that Harry's new contract is within our current wage structure!

I can only suppose that Poch is trying to give Sissoko a big kick up the backside. If he doesn't get his a*se motivated, then I'm sure we will try to send him out on loan to offset his wages. I do hope he doesn't become the new Adebayor, it took us years to get Ade off of our our payroll, long after he had officially left the club.

Vertonghen 2016 - "I can’t imagine playing somewhere else at the moment. The future looks great so I am very happy to be a part of it."

Bale 2012 - "I love Tottenham and the fans. The club is progressing and I want to be a part of that"

Today is going to tell us a lot. The game is simply huge, and there has to be no excuses. Poch cannot play this one defensively, lets put out our strongest attacking line up and fill our boots. Should be a formality..........right ?

My first reaction to any new contract that is signed by a spurs player is:
"Levy knows that this guy is good and has agreed a long term contract simply to keep the selling price high."
The player benefits because they could have just had a good season & now a better deal regardless of future performance & we benefit from having the ability to stick the price up. It's all very sensible but par-for-the-course for Levy & Spurs.

Team: Lloris (C); Walker, Dier, Vertonghen, Rose; Dembele, Wanyama; Eriksen, Dele, Son; Kane

Subs: Vorm, Wimmer, Carter-Vickers, Winks, Sissoko, Onomah, Nkoudou.

Sissoko on the bench. Looks like Jannsen dropped from the squad (not injured). For this kind of winnable game at home, that sounds to me like Poch has given up on him.

Or just taken him out of the spotlight. It's not been for lack of effort by Jannsen imo, just hasn't in to quite the right places at the right time.

Harry cool as a cucumber on penalties.

Are we going for the record of least amount of goals from open play?

Well done boys, how nice to ease to a deserved comfortable win for once. A nice way to warm up for the midweek game and Old Trafford next week. Swansea are bloody awful it must be said, they will finish rock bottom of the prem and Bradley wont last the season. Lets cheer on West Ham now (yuck !)
