if there's a good time to face United, then I believe it's tomorrow.
Agreed. We shouldnt fear them.

As I predicted, a couple of wins over crap teams simply papered over the cracks and as soon as we come up against a team with any sort of quality we look clueless yet again. It was comfortable for them today. They were'nt even that good, but you dont have to be to beat us. It was us who looked like we played Thursday and travelled to the Ukraine, not the other way round.

We looked slow, lethargic, one dimensional, toothless in attack, devoid of ideas, Poch yet again not a clue how to change any tactics during the game when its not going our way. Its all so utterly predictable.

Yet again the likes of Eriksen, Son, Dembele and Dele completely anonymous. Kane looked really slow today and as always had little support. We gave a struggling Man Utd side an easy day at the office today. If ever a team needs a win just wait for us to come to town and we will happily oblige.

We're losing with 15 minutes to go. Theres Poch, like a statue, arms folded and staring into space. Sums it all up for me.

pity we can't play Swansea and CSKA every game.

we barely laid a glove on United all afternoon. our problems are the same, we just don't know what we're doing in the final third of the pitch. I also can't stand that, no matter how badly they play, certain players just won't ever get substituted. Wanyama, Alli and Kane were our worst players today, and all played the full 90. Eriksen was just behind them, and managed 80-odd. still...rattle a few goals past Hull on Wednesday, and the critics will have been silenced.

for all the unbeaten runs, goals difference, goals conceded, 2 points per game average, shiny new stadium and a partridge in a pear tree, I defy anyone to tell me we've improved on last season.

Improved? We are going backwards at an alarming rate. Two home bankers next where anything less then 6 points is unacceptable.

A missed opportunity with Liverpool and City dropping points. You would think the motivation would be there knowing the City result in advance. In truth we have confirmed our level for this season in the Premiership, if there was any doubt before. We are not going to trouble the top 4 because as soon as we get close we will Spurs it up!

You can almost guarantee if there is an earlier kick off that would give us the opportunity to make up ground, we will not take it.

I think it was a 'meh' performance. Not particularly terrible, but not all that good either - just meh.

The thing that is a bit worrying is that the things that arent working and are going wrong seem to be many of the same issues as last season.

I do think we miss Lamela a lot more than we expected to.

Probably not a popular opinion, but I would put Wanyama on the bench and start Dier for a few games.

Also whilst Poch has said many times that Deles 'naughty' side makes him who he is, he really needs to cut out the diving, it is cringeworthy.

Sissoko was bright when he came on.

I agree.

I dont think we're much worse than this time last season. It wasn't until February last time when we really got into gear, and got into the top four. We were still fifth when we lost that long unbeaten run, which meant we'd drawn far too many of those games.

I think we're where we should be, although we always want more of course.

I'm not happy with Dele at the moment. He's all flicks, tricks, diving, and arguing. He needs to get back to playing properly. I also agree about Dier. He was one of our best players last season, and rarely gave the ball away.

I do think this insistence on continually playing out from the back doesn't help, and teams are now pressing us in those positions, whereas we had time last season.

The goal yesterday was an example. A free kick in the left back position, played backwards to a player under pressure. Back to the keeper, also under pressure, a hurried clearance wide, and then inside, where Kane lost it, and a goal.

The free kick was a chance to get forward. We dont have to prove how good we are by giving the ball to players around the box when they under pressure. Too many mistakes are resulting from that.

there aren't a lot of standout teams in that draw at all. Shakhtar have some pedigree in this competition, and teams like Zenit, Roma, Bilbao and Villareal will be tricky, but we should be able to compete. I know Mourinho will be going balls-out to try to win it, mainly because he'll desperately want to be in the CL next season, and there's no reason that we shouldn't too.

I really hope we go for it. Players want CL football as we know and hear often when discussing cups or top 4, but its a route into the CL with a trophy to boot. Players want trophies, fans want trophies, we need to win something - I think it'll give us that boost to (using a phrase i hate) 'kick on' with our progress.

Its two months till the next round of the Europa. There is no excuse whatsoever now to concentrate on the league until then. Who knows where we will be in the table by mid Feb, hopes of the top 4 may well be gone by then (if we carry on our current poor form). The Europa may well be our only chance to get into the champions league next year.

A "calm" Mauricio Pochettino says he is pleased with Tottenham Hotspur's performance despite a 1-0 defeat by Manchester United at Old Trafford.

"I think we had control of the game"

"The performance was good"

"You need to score if you want to win"
(think he has said this a hundred times this seasoon).

I despair. I really do.

True. We might also re-sign Bale in January.

One in a million......so it happens to our player !

http://www.espnfc.com/tottenham-hot....e-in-a-million

"It was an unusual injury, one in a million. It almost never happens in football," Alderweireld said. "I got a hard knock on the nerve on the right side of my knee, so the nerve was shut down. All of my leg was shut down.

"When that happens, it takes a long time to 'restart' the nerve again, so it wasn't an injury you could put a time limit on. If you pull a hamstring, you will probably be out for four-to-six weeks. With a nerve, you don't know.

"My leg didn't work and I had to start all over again. The nature of the problem also meant that for a while, my foot didn't work properly, so I had do as much recovery work as possible without using my foot.

"I could walk, but not as I normally would, because it was difficult to lift up my foot. It was difficult for the medical staff to put a time on my recovery because we didn't know. It could have been two weeks, six weeks, maybe three months more.

"We just had to do everything we could to stimulate the nerve and ensure I could come back as quickly as possible. It was very frustrating, but I had to use the frustration to work as hard as possible and be ready to come back."

Back injury apparently.

Very strange team selection today. Very defensive line up. Surely today would be perfect for Nkoudou to start. Its Burnley at home.

Well it was a win.....just. Of course the main aim was 3 points but we struggled and it was dire to watch today. Apart from Rose who was excellent there werent many positives to be had. The players yet again looked uninspired, languid, unmotivated and devoid of ideas which is a big worry. You get the feeling after watching that game that any team with even a bit of quality will beat us.

Bah humbug lol !

He got the assist for the winner but should have been sent of for dangerous high challenge that could have taken out a knee.

He's improving though which is positive.

Yes he got the assist but could easily been sent off before that. You look at his total contribution and he just does'nt look like a footballer to me.

Very frustrating but by his account he's had to get used to the Poch philosophy - harder to do due to his late transfer. He admits his fitness wasn't at the Spurs level.

He's getting the opportunity to play his preferred position which isn't out on the wing but a more narrow, inside position - he's becoming more effective.

Awful challenge though.

Plenty of chances today but the quality was hit and miss, and we did have some players out. To be 1 point behind 3rd (or 4th perhaps) isn't so awful.

Has anyone else heard that a decision on the stadium progress will be made next month - if it's not sufficiently progressed we will stay at WHL for another season before moving to Wembley for the year?
