If you could merge Trippier and Walker into one player, with Trippier's crossing ability and Walkers speed, you'd have a hell of a player
![]() There'll likely be interest in him in this transfer window as he's not getting the game time, but I really hope we don't let him go. Watford have been poor, let's not kid ourselves, so in that respect we should be battering them but we've probably been as good as they've been bad really. |

Goal difference very important. Lets fill our boots. Even Janssen will get one if he comes on.
Surely we should be bringing him on. |

I think that's the first time me slagging someone off hasn't resulted in them scoring. Janssen is doomed.

Kaboul scoring while sitting on his arse in the rain ?
Yeah, typical ![]() Took the shine off somewhat, but a good performance against a poor side. Trippier deserves to retain his place against Chelsea on the back of that but I can't see that happening, even though I guess Walker would benefit from a rest. Janssen is doing a lot of what Soldado started to do when he realised he wasn't getting the ball played to him, so I suppose you have to wonder if it'll end up going the same way for him as well. Maybe it was the wrong move for him to move to us to be a backup striker when, at his age, he needs to be playing regularly at the top level to learn and improve ? |

When Kane got injured against Sunderland Poch said "Now that Harry is injured Janssen is our main striker". He then started Janssen in 7 of the games while Harry was out and even with that run of games he never really looked like improving. As I said before, if Kane gets injured again we are stuffed if we dont buy back up in Jan.

Janssen is 22 years old and has one season in the Eredivisie under his belt.
One. And then we signed him. He's not going to suddenly become a "proper" premiership striker in 7 games, especially since it's also his first season in a new league and a new country. He's got a lot of potential, and he certainly has the build to survive in the premiership, more than Soldado even, but as I said, I do wonder if he moved too soon and needed another season of top flight competitive football to continue his development. But then saying that, we managed to break Soldado who was one of the most prolific strikers in Spanish football, so it's not like we haven't got previous in this area. Under any other circumstances, I'd say look at Saido Berahino again, but considering he basically downed tools at West Brom after they blocked him from moving to us the season before last, he'd be too much of a liability because if he's done it once, he'll do it again. |

While Janssen might well be great "one day" it doesnt change the fact that we need a competent striker now for the remainder of THIS season. If we sign no one in Jan we are basically putting ourself into a position where if Kane gets injured on 1st Feb then our season is practically over, and to me that is madness. We need another striker if Kane gets injured, we need another striker as an option to win games off the bench if things are'nt going our way (one of Poch's biggest problems so far), we need another striker so that we are not forced to play Kane in every meaningful game as this could lead to the burn. Janssen is not good enough to fill that role.
We should not get complacent with recent wins against relegation fodder, Southampton where we were helped by a sending off or Watford who were pathetic - there are much much harder games to come in the second half of the season. |

How we finished 3rd took some doing.
I cannot share the optimism of most on here. Maybe the way I have put my unhappiness has bewildered a few. I'm sure I'm not the only 1 who has doubts but maybe the only one who says it how I see it without holding back. Not looking for backup because my words seem a little harsh I know. Playing the long game on this. Maybe poch will be levys undoing. Straw camels back??? |

I'm not actually disagreeing with you (make sure you duck that flying pig ). I just felt it was right to offer some perspective on Janssen's career so far. But I suppose it's six of one and half a dozen of the other in today's transfer market really - you get a young player like Janssen who has a "hot" season so do you take a chance and sign him "cheaply" hoping that he'll mature into a better player or do you leave it another season to see how he develops and risk losing him to a bigger club who can offer more money. At least when we signed Lamela, we had the luxury of being able to play him a lot more often so he could become accustomed to the english game and the overall pace. With Janssen, and with any striker really, they're always going to be a backup to Kane so they're never really going to get the game time to develop, so that's really why we need someone already proven at premiership level. That's why it pisses me off so much that we don't take the cups seriously because those are the games where players like Janssen can play more often and get better. |

Looks like Dele's agent is angling for another new contract. He's already signed two new deals in the space of 12 months so this is taking the piss a bit .. Quote:
Real Madrid are considering a stunning summer swoop for Tottenham and England midfielder Dele Alli.

If Real actually do want him, he will be there quicker then a rat up a drainpipe assuming Levy accepts the offer......which he will if the price is right.(Not that I believe a word of Daily Mirror's bull)
