Always been the case though. Plenty of season ticket holders who don't turn up at WHL when we play the 'minnow' teams.
Yes I can understand that on the basis that its "just" one game out of 19 other home games. This is different. Its champions league and its Wembley and its only the second time we have ever been in the champions league. Oh well, their loss. More fool them.

I suppose the bar isn't set too high though - don't do as badly as Celtic but at least do better than conceding in 42 seconds

Big night for the wing backs on this wide pitch - Walker is going to be like a man possessed.

It's completely the wrong match for NK but, assuming it's been going well in training, Poch must have thought about what options to have with 20 left in case it's not going well .. probably got enough anyway.

Probably good for Dembele as well on his return - an extra half a second decision making time, unless they target him specifically.

tbf, they'll all love this .. Deli, Eriken, Lamela, H ...

Messi ? Ronaldo ? No problem 😀

Tottenham seek record-breaking £400m-plus deal over naming rights for new ground.

Tottenham will seek record sponsorship revenue from a new naming rights deal that looks certain to be one of the most significant in English football.

As they prepare to occupy their new ground, ideally from the summer of 2018, Spurs have approached numerous top-level organisations in an attempt to agree a deal.

Standard Sport understands Spurs are looking for a deal that will yield more than the £400million sponsorship arrangement between Manchester City and Etihad Airways, agreed in 2011.

Arsenal's original naming deal with Emirates, signed in 2004, was worth more than £100m and was due to run until the end of the 2020-21 season.

In 2012, the Gunners signed a £150m extension to their shirt sponsorship deal with the airline, worth £30m per year until the end of the 2018-19 season. That agreement also ensured Arsenal's home would be known as Emirates Stadium until 2028.

Discussions with potential partners are thought to be at a very early stage, with no preferred contender identified, although it is understood Qatar Investment Authority are among those interested. Tottenham went to tender only recently and continue to assess their options.

Yep, it will all come, but not yet.

Most people agree the goons didn't get a good deal back in the day. The main issue is the transitional period between 2018 and a full NFL franchise coming on board (assuming all things are equal) - maybe 4-5 years.

Once the NWHL has a full season of home games for teams in both of the two largest sports brands in the world, the numbers get hysterical.

Merry Christmas.

Record breakers.

Thanks to your tremendous support, we can announce that tonight's UEFA Champions League opener against AS Monaco at Wembley Stadium, connected by EE, is SOLD OUT!

We can confirm that we have sold over 85,000 tickets and that tonight's attendance will therefore mark a new Club record for a home match, beating the 75,038 mark set in an FA Cup tie against Sunderland all the way back in 1938.
Tonight's home attendance also sets a new mark for a home attendance for an English club in the Champions League, currently held by Manchester United - 75,520 against Lyon in the 2007-08 season.

It's a bit of a surprise to me. Perhaps we're going to see the high press on a big pitch.

That would make kind of sense, the French league isn't the fastest and they're used to dwelling. Probably a high energy performance, at least.

Anyway, it's all guess work, we'll know soon enough ..

30 mins in, two well matched teams so far. Like the way Monaco are set up, as well

We look a little naive at times in defence.

eta: LOL. Walker, why did he even touch that ball in defence to give the throw in: stupid - now a second for Monaco. FFS.

Probably a good shout. Is Dier off the pace or is working with Dele affecting him as well ..

Whatever, putting Deli there isn't quite right - the dynamics are off. Need to hold and make runs from central areas to pull Monaco out of shape. So yep, Dembele. Who for .. that is interesting.

Lamela is the obv. choice to come off.

They still need a rocket up them at half time. Monaco have had a fairly comfortable ride so far

Gave up possesion far too easily in that half. Vertonghen backed off too far for their first and Lloris stayed on his line for the second when he should have taken charge of the situation.

Well rehearsed goal from Toby to get us back in it but we have to offer more going forward. Eriksen isnt doing enough yet, would pull Son off as he's also invisible put Janssen on, drop Kane to False 9 and get Eriksen and Lamela making runs into their box.

At the back, Vertonghen and Davis need to deny space alot quicker. We need to score first in 2H or we risk piling forward in frustration and leaving ourselves open to their quick counters.

I've mentioned it a couple of times this season but we might have a problem with Vertoghen; if he's a little crocked after those two injuries even 2-3% at the level we aspire to is too much.

But it's potentially also his head not being right on it.

Makes me laugh how every team targets Walker defensively and we just hope he more than compensates at the other end - Dier is so important to helping Walker and if he's distracted by Deli not being on it the whole shape starts to fall apart. Everyone else gets dragged in to preposition.

Dele isn't experienced enough for that role.
