LOL. I see Les Mis has switched to Jannsen now last week's "haunted" Kane has two in two.
3rd in the league: Poch out! |

Think much as it will no doubt be an unpopular opinion I think I have to agree with Pete137.
We have so much possession but are plodding through games, sometimes it's 5 passes just to get across the halfway line. Our midfield take too many touches, usually backwards and sideways. When we move forward we are still too static and rarely get enough players in and around the box and our shooting and finishing is generally inept. We played the worst team in the league today and struggled. Getting the win was a bonus but boy did we make hard work of it. It seems to me certain players leave their best on the training pitch and that must be frustrating as hell for Pochettino. Son did ok today and should have scored on at least two occasions but he overdid it, took an extra touch, tried to beat his man again or simply turned back on himself and passed backwards. But he stood out today because nobody else did. When he has that sort of game against Man City, Chelsea or Arsenal I'll be more impressed. Don't even get me started on Sissoko, a totally underwhelming performance which I hope he can only improve on. There is something lacking in this squad to turn a good team into a great one. For me it's the Spurs style, the style that made us an entertaining team. At the moment we seem to be so predictable and lacking in flair. I hope that changes soon. I've always said that this season would tell us how much of last season was down to us as opposed to all the usual suspects being rubbish. it's obviously still early days, and yes we ARE in 3rd (for all that's worth at this stage), but the facts are we've only been able to win against three of the very worst teams in the league, and two of those wins were very laboured. so far, we have failed each time we've come up against anyone half-decent. |

Apparently Poch said after that match that he thinks Kane might have ligament damage. If that's true then it'll be a good few weeks out i imagine. Not good at all but this is obviously why we signed Janssen I suppose. Hopefully he'll get off the mark and get going - Gillingham is almost too perfect a game in a way for him to get started.
Clearly it means he'll get sent off in the first five minutes

LOL. Oh no, Kane is still haunted" ..Whoooooooo ....
A manager who's never had £70 mill of talent dumped on him is still trying to work out, after 2-3 weeks, how to incorporate that into what was already a pretty tight squad - it might take a while folks, but please don't let that get in the way of the weekly dramas some of you like ... |

Let me see if i can work this out ..
Ben Davies is dropped and Vertonghen is moved to left back. Dier drops back to CB and is replaced by Wanyama. Sound about right ?. Very unfair on Davies and potentially could leave us exposed down the left side. Eriksen on the bench as well in favour of Sissoko starting |

Not that I wish injury on any of our players, but I'd like to see what Janssen can do as a starter up front for a few games with Kane sidelined.
Kane's goals in the past two seasons have certainly earnt him the right for Poch to persist with him when he's maybe not playing at 100% but I really do want to see Janssen given a fair chance and a run in the side. |

It's pretty rotten, I must say, for the club to have forced new players on poor "Poch". No manager should ever have to work under those conditions.

Seems to me, its one size fits all in our approach to games. I can understand being more possession conscious and not wanting to give the ball away against a top team. But we need to be more attacking in our set-up against lesser teams and not overplaying things in midfield. We had 89% possession v Sunderland and only just beat them 1-0!

Still, £70 mill of quality ambition is a deal of work to fit into what is already a pretty decent set up. |

Two tap ins and you think everything is fine with Kane. The very definition of delusion. We won a lot of games under AVB and Sherwood, often playing better then the crap we are seeing at the moment under Poch.
Spurs are now light years ahead, in terms of performance, consistency and mentality, of where they were under those two. If you think Spurs are playing crap now, then think back to the Liverpool & Chelsea horror shows that got AVB and Sherwood the sack. Spurs only score 1 goal against a 10 man defence. So what? Man City didn't look that great against Sunderland. As for Kane, I suggest people remind themselves that he's the best player at the club. |

I actually thought Sissoko looked strong yesterday. It seemed Toby didn't want to pass to Vertoghan who looked like a spare part out there - he clearly doesn't like that position and I think the others know it. Son was all over it so a worthy motm but a good finish or two wouldn't go amiss. On a side note, we were on one of the hospitality packages yesterday and Chivers said he felt some of the players were simply overwhelmed by the massive atmosphere (and bigger pitch) of Wembley in the week. |

No news on Kane's injury yet, but the speculation has it at anywhere between 4 to 8 weeks out if it is ligament damage.
4 weeks means he'll miss seven games and might be available for Leicester on the 29th of October. 8 weeks means he'll miss twelve games and might be looking at returning when we go to Stamford Bridge on the 27th of November. Just hope bloody Janssen doesn't pick up a knock on Wednesday ! |

The rumours seem to be starting to 'firm up' almost, with more specific claims.
Apparently the initial scan has confirmed no ankle fractures, but the second scan is apparently giving "concerns" of Grade 2 ligament damage, which is 6-8 weeks out. |

Time for Janssen to step up and show us what he can do. He has looked impressive when he has played, but needs to start putting them away.

And 31 shots on goal as well .. although not that many on target either...
Maybe that's part of our problem, we pass the ball back and forth across midfield umpteen times then shoot as soon as we get any sight of goal. We really need to be penetrating the opposition's defence more and creating real goal scoring opportunities, rather than hit and hope jobs, |

Janssen joined us to play games so now is his chance. No excuses with a probable guaranteed run of games now. A home tie against Gillingham is a great way to start.

Yeah, despite the impressive shot stats, only 9 were on target and an even smaller percentage really challenged their keeper.

Not sure we are seeing any evidence of it. |
