Soap characters you thought would never get killed off, but did :(
Never in a million yrs did I expect coronation street to kill off Kylie. When I first heard they wanted to kill her off, even tho I had a really horrible feeling it would happen, I just didn't believe it. I thought it was just some stupid rumour, and it still shocks me now that my fav soap character is dead, I just always saw Kylie as a character that would never be killed off if you know what I mean?
When Fatboy got killed off in EastEnders that was another shock to me. I could never of imagined him being killed off neither Are there any soap characters who you never thought would be killed off but were anyway? |

Lucy Beale.
I remember being on the bus to uni in February two years ago and looked on DS news site. There was a headline saying "Eastenders Character to be Sensationally Killed Off" or something similar. I was thinking it'd be someone relatively minor with no long history on the show. I scrolled down past the "warning spoilers" bit and saw Lucy's picture and I was gobsmacked. I never EVER saw it coming. I just always assumed since she was Ian's only daughter, and therefore a legacy character, that she would never be killed off. |

I'd have to say no. If a character hangs around long enough the chances are they'll eventually die. It's just the way soaps work. The deaths of short term characters are not shocking to me at all. It was slightly surprising Pat Butcher got killed off when the actress only wanted a break but that's a different matter.

Only one I can think of actually was Hayley in Corrie. As such a lovely character I felt the door should have been left open for a future return. I felt her and Roy would have gone on for years, she's a big loss to the show.

Seconded for Fatboy
I could tell where it was going during the episode but I didn't want it to happen. It was quite dark, the way they killed him off, too.

I was very surprised that opted to kill off Tina in Corrie as she was definitely up there as one of the most popular soap characters created within the last ten years. It was evident that the producers loved her too.

I never thought Des Barnes in Corrie would be killed off. He had the air of someone who would always be there, but thankfully he wasn't! He was deathly dull, I was certainly immune to his 'charm'! Hayley in Corrie was a real shocker, as was Katie in Emmerdale.

For me, I never expected ED to kill off Viv Windsor, especially the way that they did

Yeah Viv's death in ED was quite shocking, particularly how such a long-standing character received such a poor send-off after so many years. I'm sure at the time of her departure Viv was the show's longest serving female character, though you wouldn't have thought this by the way she was abruptly bumped off and not even give an onscreen funeral. It's worth noting that Deena Payne did not want to leave the show and was deeply unhappy with her treatment, I really don't blame her.

Bruh, haven't you ever had a favourite character? :/ I'd be pretty sad too if mine was killed off.
All they ever do is mock me over a soap character from a soap they don't even watch! |

Yeah it probably was the same person. They only comment on my threads so they can try to bait me over Kylie Platt even when I've asked them to stop
