This is one of the problems with shows like scd and dwts; people outside the dance world think that as they haven't heard of someone before then that person can't be well known. Shirley isn't the only one! Some people still question Len's qualifications...

They are not speaking up and going against the grain. There have been dozens of anti Clifton threads. Also if you think that describing people as creepy or weird is 'speaking up' then I guess I'm not on the same hymnsheet as you.

I meant it half-jokingly. I'm keeping an open mind this series. I don't like bully boys though and that's how James comes across to me. He knows what he's doing when he tweets these things - he's setting his trolls on people he has a grudge against. I mean the Cliftons can be a bit much at times, and annoy, but I don't detect any malice there and they don't deserve the Jordans'.

There's something quite satisfying about the fact the launch viewing figures this year are the highest yet. I guess the show can survive without "the Brad Pitt of dance" (and his not-as-nice-as-she-makes-out missus).

Exactly, for him to say that the powers that be are desperate for Kevin or Karen to win is just plain ridiculous when you look at the partners Karen's had. This year is probably her first decent shot at winning; Mark Wright was probably her best partner (and only finalist) before and was too polarising to win.

But that's what trolls want..feeding . Best to ignore . I'm disappointed that Kevin and Jo even bothered to reply to them .

I know lots of celebs come off twitter for their own peace of mind . I just hope SCD is not one of those organisations that require it's employees to be on social media .

Clearly he doesn't, unless you call Jo not getting a celeb and Karen getting Dave Myers and Jeremy Vine favouritism...thought not.

Of course it's set up to a certain extent - they want some personality clashes/potential romances/rivalries/appropriate height/"fun" pairings etc. but James really is completely and hopelessly wrong if he thinks there's some kind of favouritism towards the Cliftons going on.

I unfollowed him years ago because he was getting on my nerves, but I had a look when all this kicked off and I think he and Ola have behaved appallingly. I don't even like the Cliftons that much (and am no fan of Kevin's dancing at all), but they have shown what it means to be dignified in all of this. James, on the other hand, is coming across as petulant, jealous and rude, and frankly I've seen more maturity from five year olds.


Sigh...it's posts like this (and threads like this) which remind me why I stopped posting on this forum a while back - the sheer rudeness and lack of care about others makes my blood boil.

This whole thing just reminds me why I'm not a fan of social media. Making pleasant, intelligent, thoughtful comments is unlikely to generate any interest but it's absurdly easy to whip up a frenzy of nastiness (intentionally or otherwise)

I don't think Ola at least is so bad. Kristina has tweeted something to the effect that the article about her and Ola was stupid and 'funny how our names are still used to promote strictly even though we're not still in it' so I think the 'feud' between them has been exaggerated. Also Jo Clifton tweeted 'Miss you' to Ola with kissy face emojis and Ola tweeted kissy face and huggy emojis back. I also think James lives up to his bad boy persona, people who have actually met him report that he is friendly and kind. And I like the Cliftons by the way especially Karen and Jo.

This is a good point. Social media allows people to exercise aspects of their personality they prefer to hide and/or keep private. I think the James we read (or hear about in my case) on SM is James. He's taking lots of stick, rightfully, but his wife needs her share too as she's cut from the same cloth.

I'd tend to agree with this. At least most of Ola's tweets on Saturday were positive, offering good luck to the celebs and partners.

Totally agree with this ^^^, I looked at his tweets and they don`t look that bad but then click on the tweet and read the replies and his followers are vicious, both Karen and Kevin tried to defend themselves on a couple as they were nasty (I know they should ignore) but if you re being attacked or a loved one is then you do retaliate - they were not nasty in anyway and just asked for the posters to respect peoples feelings. Mr Jordan needs to address this as like you say "it does read a bit like someone who lights the touchpaper and then slinks off.

He certainly does this, knowing how much things will kick off in the wake. I might have more respect for him (doubtful though) if he actually said these things to the Clintons' faces, but that's never gonna happen is it?

I saw that tweet and she was called out on it by a few tweeters, she then commented and aid that "he said he wanted a man" Ola would know that there will never (ok never say never) however the chances of a male on male pairing is so unlikely that yes Will may have said it would have been nice but the reality is it wouldn`t have happened.

Hate him with a passion. I can't remember who said it on CBB but they said something like 'he is desperate to be liked but because he's not he tries really hard to show he doesn't care'. Absolutely hideous couple, I used to think Ola was ok but she can't be if she's married to that.

That wouldn't create tabloid stories. If he went to Kevin with 'I think you deserve a dud this year, and you're the producers favourite' , Kevin would just laugh and say 'Well OK then' and move on. James wouldn't get the attention he graves.

I just can not believe how Kevin and Karen gave in and responded to social media insults.

This tells me two things, you can easily get under their skin, which shows lack of focus on what's important. The other problem they have created for themselves is that by fueling the fire in responding to critics directly, they have given credence to whatever they are being accused of, unfunded or not.

This sounds victim blaiming. They have every right to stand up to the bullies, and it proves nothing, but they are standing up to their bullies. These trolls make up lies, which can be damaging, if they get any wind under their wings. All 3 replied sensibly, with a few tweets and then stopped.

I think you are being somewhat harsh and very judgemental in saying they are showing lack of focus about what is important. It is quite a natural human response to want to defend yourself against detractors. There are a few who can turn the other cheek when they are being unfairly judged but for most the urge to respond is overwhelming.

I can easily believe and empathise with their need to to respond.

I've met him a few times and he's charming enough, but that doesn't excuse how he's behaved.
