Definitely agree with this. There was no doubt that Natalie Gumede was a superb dancer and easily the best technically on the show that year but I just couldn't warm to her performances, they didn't leave me wanting to watch again and again the way Jill or Jay's jive did, or Ramps' salsa etc

Unless we start having contestants who are former ballerinas or dance teachers what does it really matter? Most people in the entertainment business have had some kind of dance/music/acting training. How many series of SCD has there been with people complaining it's unfair, I'm so over all that now.

From what we saw of her I agree. Mind you that awful dress she was wearing didnt help.

I was gonna say Lesley and Ballet so I'm sure she will have the right arms and posture to score good marks with Darcey at least

On the subject of previous dance training...her Wikipedia entry says that Anastacia Newkirk started her career in 1983 as a dancer for hire. Her first claim to fame was as a professional dancer, making regular appearances in mid-1980s and early-90s on MTV's Club MTV. She appeared in a two videos for American hip hop trio Salt-n-Pepa (Get Up Everybody (Get Up) in 1988 and Twist and Shout in 1989).

I guess none of this was in Latin or ballroom, but she was giving it some in the group dance. Could be an unexpected contender if she gets public support, rare for a non-Brit.

Last year Helen had ballet experience, and while in Ballroom she was beautifully graceful, the training in ballet held her back in Latin. Not always an advantage to have training in a different style of dance

I've won a bottle of champagne for doing the can-can.
Does this mean I can't be on Strictly?

I think most of this years celebs have some form of dance experience

Louise Redknapp went to the Italia conti stage school until 16 then joined Eternal so I would say she has the the same dance training as many others on the show, infact others may have lots more experience than her, Tameka has appeared on stage in musicals where I am sure dancing is involved, will and Dan admit they are ex-stage school boys so I don`t think Louise is a ringer.

Thank goodness for that - hopefully we won't have to sit through weeks of 'comedy' (I use the term loosely) from the non-dancers.
