I've got a couple recent smart phones to sell and have read that even with a factory reset, it's possible to get info back from a phone. Is this correct and if so, what steps do I need to take to totally wipe them?

Thanks.

Not done this myself but I was reading the other week somewhere the best way if selling a phone on is to encrypt the phone then do a complete factory reset.

I don’t know the procedure but I assume after the reset the phone is un-encrypted for the new user but any residual data left on the phone from past uses will be encrypted.

Worth a Google.

Thanks, encrypting now. They also say to do this, reset it and then put junk data and videos on it and then reset again to create a false 'layer' of data. Also apparently apps like iShredder which destroys everything.

http://www.appbrain.com/app/forever-....p.forevergone is another app you can use, although it takes a long time to complete, it slows down as the free space reduces.
