When did Charity become so stupid?
She's always been ruthless and conniving, but she hasn't been stupid. She claims to know Cain the best, but is unable to get that he actually is in love with Moira, and Charity's schemes to hurt Moira wouldn't make Cain happy. She had him as much she could at the moment, but being clingy and demanding would be a huge turn off for Cain, especially now. How did she figure that saying to him, that they should celebrate his divorce would go over well? Did she think that taunting Moira would be a turn on for Cain?
She's always been able to play the long game, but seems to have lost that ability completely. |

I think lust for Cain has blinded her a bit, to be honest. Plus the arrogant assumption that Moira is just a mousy nobody and she can get him back any time she wants.
I can buy that she might go overboard trying to get him back. What I didn't buy at all was her crying in the bus stop the other day because she'd got the cold shoulder over Belle. Charity doesn't do self-pity. One reason why I love her. |

I guess the script writer needed to make her stupid to fit the storyline, this is the sort of thing that makes me stop watching for a while until the storyline moves on to something less stupid.

That stunt she pulled with Moira was a boneheaded move on her part but remember that she is used to her and Cain playing those sorts of games of oneupmanship with each other. Taunting each other with other partners, etc. was pretty normal behaviour for them, in the past. She seems unable, or unwilling, to recognise that Cain's feelings for Moira are quite a bit healthier than his feelings for her and that he doesn't really want to get back at Moira, he just wants her back. That way of thinking is probably a foreign concept to Charity.
I think she is very dismissive of Moira, she has already said that she is second best and probably thinks that Cain has been just using her as a stopgap until he gets back with her. She doesn't seem to be able to conceive that he loves someone other than her. |

Like other FMs have said it's s not stupidity. It's arrogance. Charity really has underestimated just how much Cain's s feelings for her are changing. Clearly, he still has some residual feelings for her but he realises she's no good for him. Charity is still stuck in the game- playing, on- off relationship mode and possibly will be forever. She doesn't ( and never has) really loved him IMO. She likes thinking that he will always come back t her. She is going to be in for a shock, I reckon

![]() I wonder if she will now admit defeat or will she continue chasing him when he returns? If they do become a proper couple it will only be a matter of time before another rich bloke strolls into town and she will then dump Cain like a hot stone

Arrogant definitely, she was so dismissive of Moira and his feelings for Moira that she completely misread the situation by pulling that stunt last week. I think she probably expected him to laugh in Moiras face and she looked genuinely shocked when he admitted that he still loved Moira.

She did work and scheme long and hard to get Cain to her bed, it really stung when he just left. I did appreciate the fact, that Cain didn't try to blame Charity for the sex, but he was angry about setting Moira up, and hurting and humiliating her. |

I'm hoping they'll get it on quick, so the rich bloke will arrive faster.

Hmm, Lawrence is single now isn't he? . imagine if Charity ended up being Chrissies stepmother

I want her to bog off and let Cain and Moira sort themselves out. Even if they do manage to reconcile, what will have changed though? Charity will still be lurking and trying to cause trouble for them unless she gets a rich bloke.

I want her to evolve a little bit. She's s very entertaining but massively unbelievable as a character. None of the self loathing that you're d surely see of someone who survived childhood sexual abuse. Cain has some depth and is much more realistic. Charity has all the depth of a paddling pool. I want to see that there's s more to her than the schemer, even though I find her scheming fun. I just can't t believe in her ultimately, she's s like a cartoon villainess.

I detest how she always comes out on top, she is one of those types that falls in crap and comes out smelling like roses. Would love to see Cain return and tell her to clear off but if they follow the normal script he will be asking her to shack up with him

I remember when she broke up with Jai, the first thing she did was seduce Ross so that he would catch them. As I remember it, she was gutted that he didn't really seem bothered.

I think she is partially deluding herself about the depth of his feelings for Moira. She must be able to see that this relationship was different to his past 'stopgap' relationships when he was separated from her. She even lived with them for a while, she knows there is/was genuine love there. It is part arrogance and part denial, I think.
I kind of agree. As much as she can be entertaining, at times, it really feels like her character is going backwards. She seemed to grow up a little during her brief marriage to Jai, but then as soon as she found out about him and Rachel, she reverted back into bitch mode and has been stuck in it pretty much ever since. I don't want to see her with another rich bloke, we've seen that storyline too many times already. And really, how realistic is it that all these rich, successful men keep falling at her feet? They need to give her something fresh to do that gives us a little less of the scheming and brings out a little more vulnerability and humanity in the character. |
