Mixing off the shelf curry sauces

Anyone tried doing this and come up with a great sauce?

I mixed a Madras with a korma (both Pataks) last week, and it tasted good.

A jar of mild curry sauce would have been cheaper.

It would have tasted completely different though.

Have I tasted jars of mild curry sauce? Yes. It doesn't taste anything like it.

Plus it doesn't have all the veg - peppers, onions and so on.

I hate jarred curry sauces. I've never tried one I liked. I use the pastes when I can't be bothered to make my own.

I can't remember the last time I bought a jar of curry (or pasta) sauce. All they are are tomatoes with herbs/spices and a few bits of veg. Far cheaper to get a tin of tomatoes and add your own extras to suit your taste.
