I've been dying to post my appreciations but wanted to wait and see him dance and well ... a-ma-zing! Loved their routine. The best of the night for me.

Just catching up. Didn't know what to expect of this guy. But he was amazing, and unremittingly so. On the launch show he seemed a bit of an arse (and holds a lot of being an arse potential IMO) but I loved him tonight.

Oi, that was Patrick and Anya's cha cha song tho.

Oksana is a revelation.

I know and there were a few moments that reminded me of Anya's routine, which would be a homage afaic.

For me (I perhaps shouldn't say it on the judge's thread) Patrick is just a natural dancer -- and he feels the music... But the judge was so much glorious fun. So many highlights in one tiny routine!! Can he Keep Surprising Us??? I love this show because I never know who I'm going to like and the reasons are always individual to that person.

Loved it!

ETA Just read back my first comment and think maybe it looked critical. I mean 'being an arse' in a good way. Whatever that may be

Patrick was one of my favourite celeb contestants ever and should have been in the final but unfortunately he confronted Natalie in a DO, ho-hum ... Robert can surprise us if he reins in his boundless enthusiasm and channels it. He's fit and flexible, if somewhat stiff in the groin ... But you can see that he has been learning the cha cha steps. I think he and Oksana will work well together. He's Marmite of course so we'll see how he fares over the week with the voting public.

Sign me up as a fan of the Judge.

Most fun routine of the night I thought. Hopefully he can do ballroom as well.

Some of the spins were a bit uncontrolled. But a nice surprise.

I could hug someone who is not only a fellow lefty but a Patrick lover. He's my favourite contestant on the show in all the years I've watched. (Him and Anya.) Put it there, pal!

Think you're right about him working well with Oksana. He'd obviously works hard and there seems a good working relationship between them.

Robert even looked good in the shapeless black gown

I can't decide if hes going to be quite good (or very bad) at the facial expressions, but I'm looking forward to see him give it a go and I like their partnership.
)
Thought so

Think he was a bit more nervous than I thought he'd be, and Oksana is far too lovely to be the harsh taskmaster shes supposed to be, but loved their first dance. Hes definitely going to give it welly, so loads to look forward to.

Loving Oksana

That was such fun! Me and my 9 year old were squealing!

He was a rare combination of a comedy contestant who is actually good.

I suspect that his schtick might wear thin with me after a while - BUT as a first dance, that was glorious!

(and yes, he annoyed me on the launch show too)

What a nice thing to say. I'll return the hug. It took a while for Patrick to grow on me because he was reserved but by the cha cha cha he was on a roll. His salsa would have been superb but for his hand injury and he loved the samba at Blackpool. This is before we consider his charleston, waltz, AS and, my favourite, their VW unfairly penalised by Craig who thought Anya's foot lifted off the floor.

Anyway, Patrick has had his turn and whilst I miss him it's the turn for others. I hope Robert can tune into his feelings. I thought he seemed more serious when receiving the judges' comments, so I think he has another side. I hope he shares it in his dances with Oksana.

I really like her too and this is as much her appreciation thread as Robert's. I loved that she took the judge theme and wove it throughout the routine. Loved her begging him for mercy and then he thrashing her up and down, oo er!

(Not to forget the wonderful voodoo quickstep... But enough of Patrick!)

Yeah, Robert had a serious (...ish) face for the judges and there was that revealing comment from Oksana about him overthinking his hips that points to a different side. It'll be interesting to see how they respond to the characters of the other dances. This Cha Cha was so perfectly champagne-corky. It remains to be seen if they can bring the equally right mood for tango, waltz etc.

I understand Craig expects cat fights with Rinder, they don't seem to have been exactly friends.
