It's basically the same concept as the previous ones only instead of CGI backgrounds it's filmed on real location - which does make them seem a bit more happy and "Neighbours"-esque. But other than that it's not that different.

They're awful in my opinion.
Why do you think they're bad?

I really like them, I did miss seeing Darren's sexy eyes at the end but Mercedes getting Erica Kane-esque shot at the end was nice. The only changes I would suggest is to slow the shots of the cast down, add the actors names in and split the characters up into 4 different opening.

I've rewatched and mercy Cameron, grace and Warren's are my favourites of the new titles. Don't like the rest though as I find them cheesy

Judging by the titles I think-

Nico
Cameron
Celine

Are all on their way out.
I agree. Nico and Cameron were on borrowed time since the show took them down the villianry road.

As for celine, I don't think she's ever really worked and I just fail to see where she could go. It's a shame the actress who played portia left because I felt she had longetiviy.

As the villians though whether they're leaving or not it makes sense to show them individually being all villianous.

Based on the break stings (which I'm not 100% sold on) it looks like any in groups shots had individual shots filmed too - Nancy and Darren are together on the titles but were separate for the break stings tonight.

I liked them, they are not that much different to the old ones though.
What annoys me is some characters linger longer than others though. Neeta has 3 shots of herself as does Maxine, while James appears at the front of his and Marnies screenshot just once, blink and you'd miss him!
Not sure why Diego, Mac and Dirk are altogether either? Mac should have been with Neeta or Nathan and Dirk with Cindy.
And Warren, James or Darren should have been at the end, not Mercedes.

I'm so disappointed with James' shot, far too fleeting for such a great character.

He should have been the closing shot!

Why does Marnie look like a reject from Cabaret? I keep expecting her to bring out the jazz hands whenever the credits come on.

I can't understand why Neeta's shot is so long. I can understand the likes of Mercy and Nancy having longer shots, but Neeta is hardly a major character. She spends more time off screen than on.

Joanne's shot is always quite weird, IMO.

I don't mind Mercedes being the last shot, plus the final shot of the village when the title shows is beautiful.
I agree that some people seem to feature much longer than others. I know its 4 people, but the shots of the 4 teens in the hot tub seems to last so long! And yes some of the pairings/non-pairings seem a little odd. Why isn't Dirk with Cindy etc.

Overall though I do like them, music hasn't changed much though which I was a little disappointed with. Don't hate it though.

Those are bloody great. Yes, cheesy as hell but totally works with the show itself.

One of the best ones they've done actually.

Darren maybe, or even Tony, but I'd actually say they got it pretty spot on with Mercedes being at the end. She's definitely the most well known character in HO as well as being ridiculously photogenic. She's the logical choice to be there.

I'm curious to know why you think James, who has been on the show all of five minutes, should have been given the closing shot?

I actually think Tony should get the first slot (not bloody Ste!) and I have no problem with Mercedes having the closing shot (although Nancy, Jack, Frankie or Darren also deserve it as they've been there longest. Even Tom and Cindy), but as great as James is, I don't think he'll stick around for more than a couple of years.

I really like them. The fairground is rather random, but it works, somehow!

I think because originally the closing shot was always the resident 'bad guy' we had Brendan and Dr Browning in the past at the end. So Warren or James for me would work. I would have been happy with Darren staying at the end though, but i guess they wanted to team him with Nancy.
I don't think the first or last shot has any relevance to longevity or popularity anyway. I personally cannot stand Ste or Mercedes who come up first and last!

Only logical reason for Neeta's being shot being so long is that they intend to cut it when they add some of the incoming characters over future weeks.

I like them but they go so quickly! Joanne's one is a bit strange as it doesn't really show her face but overall I think they are better then the old ones.

Can anyone list the characters in order of appearance? I am curious to see who is new and who was dropped?

Maxine - In the salon, blowing a foundation brush
Cleo, Zack, Harry, Holly - In the jacuzzi
Joanne - Throwing a flower in to the pond
Frankie, Jack, Esther, Charlie - Playing table football
Alfie, Jade - Stargazing on the village wall
Peri, Tom - Playing in the ruined churchyard area (The folly?)
Simone, Louis - Kissing on decking outside Lisas Love Boat
Kim - On a swing
John Paul, Myra, Sally - Singing Karaoke
Marnie, James - Doorway of The Dog
Cindy - Throwing balloons outside the octagon
Nico - Trash can fire outside the folly
Celine - Throwing flowers on the decking outside LLB
Liam, Jesse - Jumping off the village wall
Sienna - Lying in red leaves in the folly (?)
Tegan, Leela, Courtney - Partying in The Loft (?)
Sonia - Playing air guitar on the village wall
Cameron - Walking through the rain behind The Loft
Amy, Ryan - At the carnival
Mac, Dirk, Diego - Sharing a drink outside the Dog
Joe - Amazingly playing football a year after being fully paralysed in the village
Nathan - Also playing football
Neeta - Glamour shot, possibly in the salon
Tony, Diane - Kissing in front of the Merry Go Round
Ellie, Freddie - Nothing to do with village it seems
Grace - Throwing wine in her own club, silly girl
