It's no secret the BBC have cut back on a lot of their top shows in recent years, but I think EastEnders has suffered really badly due to this, and I was wondering if the new and improved set they are investing in is part of the reason?

If this is the case, I don't think it is worth it at all. I'd rather we had quality, rather than a few extra streets and sets.

A lot of current scenes only really take place in interior sets, meaning over half the episodes are just characters talking in the living room for example, and it's become dull.

You rarely get characters out and about now interacting and it all feels very stale. I think this is all due to cuts.

Do you think the cost of the new set is having an impact on the show, and if so, do you think it's worth it?

Certainly looks that way and I guess the cost of production is higher being based in London compared to the other soaps.

I just don't see how EE can continue in the future as London gets ever more expensive, the BBC will have to justify the continued increase cost to base it in the capital. Everyone involved will be on higher salaries due to the increase cost of living etc.

I wonder if we'll ever see it move to another part of the country and whether it will be considered. Afterall its only a fictional set, they rarely film outside anymore, again due to cost.

Hertfordshire is not London.

There are a number of factors, I'd say the last 3 terrible incompetent producers have done far more damage than a budget cut ever could.

Hertfordshire is not London.
12 miles from Charring Cross and well within the M25 London ring road so some would class it as London although officially it is Hertfordshire.

Theoretically, it's short-term pain for long-term gain.

It's the bad writing that is affecting the show.

Gavin's showdown was filmed on location. The fancy building couldn't save an appalling script. Peggy's dying episodes were on location. They have brought in several guest actors recently too.p, they would cut down on that if there was major budget issues.
