It's so heartbreaking, she was 19 and my gorgeous puss cat. She was my foot warmer at the weekends and my company when my husband is on night shift. She was a fiesty, sometimes grumpy cat but she was my grumpy cat. She was my 5am wake up call but when she stopped that we knew something was wrong.

Oh, love to you. Also said goodbye to a grumpy, entitled cat (aged 21) a few months back and we haven't stopped missing her or talking about her, since she went.

Be kind to yourself. It's very tough, losing a pet of so many years, they are just such a profound part of our lives, eh?

ditto

I had to make the painful decision to have my 16 year old PTS in April

I miss her daily but I do have a new fluff ball in my life and it has helped - I swore I wasnt going to get another cat but

she is a rescue baby and is 18 months old

she wont ever ever ever replace Olive but she has helped to start to mend my broken heart

give yourself time to grieve, it will get easier with time but I dont think you will ever stop missing her

lots of love and hugs

New pets never replace our lost loved ones, they just find their own place in our hearts.
Hope you are coping ok OP - seems she had a long happy life, you can take comfort in that.

So very sorry for your loss, you did the last loving thing though and now need to take care of yourself for a while.

I'm sorry to hear that OP I know it's hard, but take comfort from the fact that your pussycat would no doubt have known how much she was loved and she was clearly well cared for, to live to the grand old age of 19

That's lovely and very true!

Thank you everyone, the empty house is the hardest thing. I've had cats all my life so not having one is weird. My beautiful Clemmie was my girl though and it's hit me so hard.

I came downstairs this morning and went to feed her and realised she wasn't there, I went to say "see you later puss cat have a good day" and realised she wasn't there. I came back from my parents just now and the house was so quiet, I just burst into tears.

I miss her so much, I didn't think it would be this bad.

Really sorry elliecat. I know what it's like. It does take time.
It may help to take some time yourself to get something together like a set of photos so you go through all the good memories that you will have had over those years.

Aah I can feel your sadness, but you loved her and 19 was a great age for a cat, so think of the positive side in your grief.

You were a fantastic MUM to her, so RIP pussycat fluffball

I have two crazy michevious girls now. One seems to find hair elastics from I don't know where(she just jumped on to the sofa with one) the other just sits there and gives me withering looks as if to say "really". They are so different to my clemmie cat (which is what we wanted) but it's lovely to have company again. Clemmie was a grand old lady (who had pride of place on my wedding cake) and I miss her everyday but these two sisters are so fun. We've had them a week now and after a terrible first night with the storm they are just so crazy they make me laugh. I've got double trouble and one sleeps in the cupboard where I keep my handbags and Cemmie had a thing for shoes so it just seems like fate because I have a thing for shoes and handbags.
