Thought it was fantastic. The camera angles everything was polished. I enjoyed the lighter side of the show I found the Denise Baby reveal funny the way how Kim shut the doors on the others and Claudette going "Aww Kim". The Mitchell drama was great Grant didn't feel to forced tonight it seemed more natural. Overall great episode.

It flowed much better and there was quite a lot going on.

I enjoyed it.

So bad it was hilarious. The Mitchell crap is straight out of a parody gangster film.

It seemed a lot smoother & better dialogue, seems promising. After that episode I'm hopeful

It was a great start, and a great episode, but it's worth remembering this is actually intended to be a big week for the show.

I think it's worth waiting a few months before making a proper judgement.

The strong points tonight were character interaction and some really nice camera angles. The writing was also a lot better and there was quite a bit going on.

The question is though, will it go full again next week when Grant leaves?

are you joking, I never noticed anything different, and the reality is if you weren't told of this you would never have made this thread.

I thought the pacing was too slow, there was nothing dramatic about the kidnap, we didn't see any struggle, it was just left to the viewers imagination, as usual, just like Paul's death, Jays drug taking and anything else that has gone on off screen in the past 6 months.

The budget cuts are severely hampering this show. Even Ben and Jay didn't say a thing despite 3 scenes in the van, as bloody if! 2 of the 4 were just extras who didn't have any lines because they would have to be paid extra.

All the other Mitchell stuff was just over played and poorly acted. Jack would never get that kind of info about the van so soon, no way they can look through all the different CCTV footage and find a vehicle that quickly unless its a high priority search.

Poor start to what is certain to be all about Grant and nothing else.

Not enough focus on The Mitchell storyline, no one cares about the bloody pregnancy

Good start, imo. I liked it.

IT was utter shit. But on the plus side the script would have been signed off by DTC. SOC would have only been responsible for the direction and editing,

I have made a thread about how the cuts are really affecting the show, and that is in the hands of the BBC. No producer can change that unfortunately.

Although I'm not a fan of things happening off screen, I did find it rather tense. I liked the mystery of not knowing what had happened, and there were some edge of your seat scenes in tonight's episode. I haven't felt that about EastEnders for a very long time.

I think I must be the only one who cares. It has a lot of potential. Don't understand the hate for it.

I thought this was one of them joke threads.

I don't think this is the start of his work anyway. it is still all dtcs stuff. the letter and dots story is dtc, the ben and jay and mitchell stuff all dtc.

Sock has been overseing the camera work and production for a while now so I am not sure why people think it has suddenly changed today

You could definitely tell the difference. If you watch carefully and listen to the writing.

these are all dtc's storylines.

the only thing he might of done is put Claudette and patrick back together.

everything else has been running for months and months

I couldn't care less about the Mitchells. I was more interested in Denise's pregnancy.

It is his work. This Morning confirmed it for us. Scripts are written two months in advance. DTC left in May. Today marked the start of SOC having control over the writing for the first time.

I haven't seen the episode yet so cannot comment on it.

stop quoting my posts.

Scripts are started well in advance of 2 months.

the writers and the storyliners are still from dtcs era.

the storylines are dtcs.

No, me too Lou. I think it's a brilliant idea to get denise involved with Phil.

He started about ten weeks ago, they film 8-10 weeks in advance, the scripts therefore have to be ready well before then.

I will quote what I like!!

Sharon Marshall is a well respected soap expert who even once worked on EE. I think she knows the show and how it works. The fact she herself confirmed this was Sean's first episode as full producer is all I need as confirmation. You can try to claim different as much as you want. Sharon gave us the the facts.
