I hadn't even watched this series a year ago yet now I regard it as one of my favourite programmes!

Never been so psyched for the return of a sitcom as much as this one

Dunno how i feel about this. Saw the last show and The Hydro is the worst venue for it. Our seats were right at the top of the left hand side of the stage. Could see more of backstage than the actual stage. The cast kept waving up at me and doing daft dances. Watched the show on the big screen at the side of the stage most of the way. We didnt even know there was a 3rd screen in the middle till we could hear people but couldnt see them.

Personally I thought the 2014 Stage Show was, overall, horrible. Now if they acted it straight (like the original Still Game stage show from 1999) and cut out all the 'banter' with the audience and the breaking of the 4th wall, didn't have Steve the Bookie & Edith ruin the flow of the plot and had a proper ending rather than that horrible musical/bollywood ending - then it had the potential to be a decent 80-90 minute stage version of the TV show, rather that the confusing 2hours+ mess that didn't know if it wanted to be a stage version of the TV show or a interactive fan based celebration of the show.

Also they are apparently going to call this Still Game: Live 2 when truth be told it is Still Game: Live 3, but it seems that Kiernan & Hemphill don't count the story of the 1999 stage show as part of Jack, Victor & Winston's 'canon'. However saying that they did give it a very small 'nudge & wink' reference during the 2014 stage show when Winston was showing Tam his gadget magazine (the one with the electronic leg) but Tam reads the wrong article and reads aloud the following headline-

"Pensioner hides £7000 in hoover bag"

I won't say anymore just in case there are any newer fans to Still Game who haven't seen, or possibly didn't even know, there was a 1999 Still Game stage show written and staring Kiernan and Hemphill as Jack & Victor, along with Paul Reily as Winston. It was this stage show that lead to the TV series a couple of years later.

And on one final rant/point. The cost of the tickets are £39.75 to £56.20. Of course this is a matter of personal opinion but as an occasional theatre goer I would be reluctant to pay near £40 for any show in an actual theatre (even in London), let alone a stage show in a bowl shaped arena.

I'm surprised they're doing the stage show again though I hope they'll still be able to do an 8th series.

That is, unless this upcoming series turns out to be pish

From what i've heard from screenings it's very good. They seem to have a lot of ideas so i can see an 8th series being a possibility for this time next year.

The first stage show is incredible. The last was one was good but i think they just crammed to much in. I absolutely loved the musical number at the end. The way they showed it on TV was terrible. I haven't seen the full show since i was there, might watch it tonight.

That's a relief. I'm just glad to see that they've got some of the supporting characters back like Eric, Shug, Stevie and Fergie.

I hope the show got better promotion in the Scottish edition of the Radio Times than it did in the English one bearing in mind it's been promoted to BBC1 and networked for the first time.Good to see The Sun gave it a big write-up.

Yeah the new character is a young meth addict apparently but hopefully he'll provide some laughs.

Worth noting that Series 6 of Still Game AND Chewin the Fat are now on Netflix.

'I never ate two of anything'!

I had to take a break and rewind after watching that. One of, if not THE, funniest things they ever wrote.

They probably felt they needed something new as they lost one of the cast since the last series

Not to long to go now!

Here's an article I did of my Top 10 favourite episodes. Gutted to leave some of them in the 'honourable mentions' section!

Im not sure what its like in other parts of the country but Scotland is going mad for still game. Jack and Navid were on 3 breakfast shows this morning and its in all the papers. I think the majority of the audience watching will be Scottish tomorrow night. I actually cant wait for it.

Said on The Ratings Thread I didn't enjoy the last series as much - more crude language/toilet humour than before and therefore for me not a patch on the earlier series which were sharper and with more observational Glasgow humour. Anyway just my opinion and I am going to go for this new series and hopefully stick with it - it probably needed the break to freshen it up so here's hoping.

Me and Mr Macbeth used to watch this as we are close to the border. I can't say I've ever known non Scots watching it. It's funny, but not as good as it was.
