Well I for one am glad the show is back, even if in my opinion episodes 3,4 & 5 (can't comment on the last episode as its not aired yet) have been poor for Still Game (ie Series 5 & 6 level good, as opposed from the first 4 series which were classic).
Also your comments about Mick, well count me as another one of the 'don't like this character' brigade. To me (and again this is just my opinion) the character doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of the Still Game universe.
Usually when I am watching I can get drawn into all the characters and their storylines, whilst still having a laugh. However with Mick, to me he is just a parody character made up of 80% stereotypical Glasgow Junkie Ned mixed in with 20% Dwayne Dibley (the hair and the teeth). So because to me Mick is a parody character it takes me out of the story.
The best way to describe it is that when I see Jack & Victor I see Jack & Victor, not Ford & Greg playing Jack & Victor - with Mick I see an comedic actor playing a parody character for cheap laughs.
So a side note, I found this on Youtube yesterday and I'm just wondering if anyone has seen it? Its one of the 'Think F.A.S.T on strokes' PIFs but stars Gavin Mitchell (aka Boabby) as 'The Barman', as well as Sanjeev Kohli (aka Navid) & Jane McCarry (Isa), playing 'mates sitting at the table'.
