I've been enjoying it, I had no issues with Monday's episodes..except that Todd and Billy didn't get it on

Emmerdale is in much worse shape than Corrie IMHO.
ED was poor last night by its standards, not surprising when you had the Bartons (minus Moira and Emma) at the forefront mainly (Ross, James and Pete), Dan and Jimmy. This Dan and Nicola storyline may be running all week too

Emmerdale has been on the slump since Chrissie turned into a cartoon villain, the break up of Coira, Dan/Nicola and Carlon have all contributed to the show's slump. Coronation Street is much better.

Corrie has been dire for years. You just sit and wonder if they'll sink to a new low.

I've not watched Corrie properly for a while now. It went downhill last year I thought and never seemed to watch much of it since apart from the occasional catch up with it.

With Peter Barlow returning in October surely things will start to improve hopefully

That would be a small beacon of light in the dark dark tunnel of current Corrie.

After seeing him on that panel with the soap producers last year, I think that would be a bad thing.

Are you kidding? The man knows corrie inside and has written some of Eastenders best ever episodes.

Did you watch that video? I'm sure he knows a lot about Corrie but he seemed to have an attitude throughout the whole discussion and he talked about how he fired a long term actor because they disagreed with the story he planned for that actor's character. IMHO a good producer would listen and take what the actor's thoughts into consideration.

I didn't see that but I don't see why writing out a character is an issue.

Also it wouldn't have been him that made the decision to axe the character. It would have been Kieron Roberts.

Yes it was Darren, they had him, Kate Oates, Stuart Blackburn, Brian Kirkwood and Dominic Treadwell Collins discussing the soaps. We talked about it on here a couple months back and some think that the acator Darren got fired was the guy that played Martin Platt because Darren wanted Martin to sleep with Sarah.

Here is a link to the video its long but very interesting.

[quote=sorcha_healy27;8385 I'm only rooting for Steve because nick has no right to order him off the street. Nick wasn't even with Leanne when she slept with Steve either.

I loathe Nick [/QUOTE]

I loathe Nick too. He was ridiculous last night with his daft empty threats and quizzical frowning. Steve should have chinned him

Then as soon as he'd made everyone suffer enough he turned up at Leanne's with the travel tickets and expected her to be grateful - which she was

Load of f**king idiots.

I feel sorry for you I really do Trevor!!!!

Thankfully my brain has obviously kindly banished the more lurid details of those two particular bedroom liaisons!!
I remember them happening but thankfully not much more than that!!
In case you hadn't realised my post was a little tongue in cheek but to be fair these days the most we normally see is a quick fumble on the couch followed by a leading upstairs or else a quick fumble on the couch followed a few scenes latee by clothes being replaced!!
I can never forget

That's what happens when you put Maria at the forefront she can't act for toffee.

I dreaded when the soap destroyer was announced as producer she doesn't know the shows history, hope am wrong but I can see the ratings dropping with her in charge.
I agree, anything with dull Maria in is sleep inducing which is why I'm taking a break for a while. I don't know why anyone considers her a good actress. When I've seen her on game shows like The Chase, or participating in Dancing on Ice, you just can't see where Maria ends and Samia begins, there's no difference at all, so she displays no acting skills at all. I might take another look when they pop her back in the salon whining and moaning as she always does, but really I'm not missing it too much at all at the moment.

What I will never get with all the "Corrie is crap" threads (which it is) is that when people are slagging off Sean, Michelle etc nobody EVER calls out Simon Gregson for being a crap actor. All the man ever does is gurn and shout, with his voice getting ever more high pitched. Don't get me started on the "flippins".
bib: I have done, and I still do so!

It was Daran. I watched that too. A long term actor didn't like something the show intended to do with his character because he felt it was out of character and Daran said that was curtains for them and they were gone soon after. I think he said they are paid to say the lines they are given and he isn't interested in what they think.

In terms of that panel making him seem like a bad choice for Corrie today, I agree with Mark. Daran made that comment in answer to a question about whether they should or do listen to actors and Kate's answer was the complete opposite to Daran's. She said she does believe in working with and listening to actors many of whom know the characters better than she or the storyliners ever will. So I'm not sure how they would get on working so closely together. If he would be able to lower himself to listening to an actors feedback and taking it on board

I don't watch Corrie enough to judge, but if it's as dire as everyone says, you need to look further than Kate Oates. I'm not her greatest fan, and I'm not jumping to her defence, but I think you also need to look at who's in the storylining department.

It's the storyliners who are supposed to drive the show forward. Oates needs to get some proper experienced talent into that office.

Your post and mark's was interesting to read.

However bib is unbelievable for Oates to claim when she didn't listen to the actors who play Zak and Lisa in Emmerdale

I think she is selective in who she listens to, if you are one of her favourites you are laughing

Gemma Atkinson said she and Kate sat down and planned out Carly's back story together and Denise Black said Kate talked through the Zak affair with her. Danny Miller said he was told about Aaron's abuse storyline by Kate back in 2014 when he first returned and from what he aid there was quite a bit of consultation between him and the writers.

Simon Gregson appears to be morphing into Sylvester McCoy.

Good point, but did the actually complain to Kate Oates? I know they made comments about not liking it after she left it didn't seem to me that they took their complaints to her directly...and even if they at least she had sense enough not to fire them.
