Looks like a new twitter spat has begun too

PJ Brennan who played Doug in Hollyoaks is having a right go at the journalist who made comments

Glad to see that people will defend the show and the characters

Notice how all of the examples used in that article were tweeted by men, who would have probably seen absolutely no problem if it was 2 women kissing and talking about sex.

I am sorry but I laughed at some of the comments. surely they were not being serious!

a handful of tweets is not controversy.

Unfortunately there are always going to be sad bigoted trolls on twitter.
Personally I thought it was pretty amazing. And on a shallow note I have to say that Bruno Langley is ridiculously hot and is criminally underrated as an actor.

Scrolling through twitter and one tweet said about 'Adam & Eve created mankind not Adam & Steve' and someone said it's not homophobic to complain about it when their children are watching.

Someone has posted a picture of Aidan and Eva about to have sex in the factory and that no one was bothered about that.

Bib!! Spoiler tags please!!! This is obviously a storyline for the young Barlowmeister when he returns!!!!

As for the Billy/Todd scenes other people probably understandably enjoyed watching it more than me but it certainly didn't offend me & I see no reason why it should anyone else, though gay or straight it was quite 'racy' for Corrie!!

It's crazy to believe people still get their knickers in a twist over two men kissing lol.

I could not believe the uproar on twitter from some even calling it porn!!??

I thought in EE when Grant had Jane on the kitchen table years ago was much racier

Seriously, porn? Omg, they made out for about five seconds and no clothes were removed I remember Grant and Jane and thinking that was quite racy, and there have been lots of other straight scenes like that too

I want to complain to Ofcom, I was really angry about it.

Todd should have at least had his shirt fully off.

Very disappointing,

Disappointing reaction but I think on the whole, the complaints are coming from a very small minority and these types of complaints will become less and less as time goes on.

It's hardly controversial but the selected comments don't surprise me.

Mind they'll happily let their kids watch fictional characters committing murder etc.

Just because people don't like gay kissing that doesn't make them homophobic.

Yes, it does. Or you have a very warped sense of what homophobic means

I bet they wern't working themselves into a frenzy when Eva was slathering over Aidan the other night

The fact that they complain and expect Corrie to change because of their complaints does. People can obviously dislike or like what they want. But their complaints suggest that they don't believe gay affection has a place on TV and gay relationships don't deserve representation. Complaining from that perspective has a much deeper impact than just complaining about say a violent scene or a particular storyline (not associated with sexuality or ethnicity for example) does. Making an actual complaint about gay kissing goes beyond simply not liking watching something. It suggests they believe a certain kind of human being is offensive to them simply because of who they are. That is bigotry. People who were not bigoted toward gay people but simply do not enjoy watching gay kissing would not make a formal complaint.

I always love when someone says this because it's always fun to point out they don't make a fuss about their children seeing: affairs, assault, blackmail, murder, kidnapping and the like but two guys kissing is a step too far.

Not at all surprising, but depressing nonetheless.

I'm afraid it does, hun.

To be honest I did find it very embarrassing to watch knowing my parents were probably watching at the same time. But it would have been between a man and a woman. There's no need to talk about that kind of thing so early in the evening!
