EE needs to update it's London map it is outdated now. What could be cool though i instead of going from the start in the middle of the Thames and then into the big map why don't they go from the outside then circulate down onto the Square and the title EastEnders comes up in the middle of the square.

Probably because Walford isn't a real place. Looking at the current map of East London you can imagine it being somewhere in that area, but there's a still a bit of mystery around it. If they zoomed in to Walford people would just go "that's Woolwich (for example), not Walford!".
