Really don't care for Gina Yashere and just found her to be her usual loud, abbrasive, unfunny self.
BUT I still think the show itself (stage swivel dancing aside) is really good fun. They had a couple of duff notes this week with Snake (which could have been fun to watch had Gina Yashire not been total pants at it) and Portal 2, which, let's face it, doesn't work as an "exciting" competitive multiplayer game, especially when one person has previous playing the game and the other has no knowledge of the game at all. That having been said, they had some cracking games of Sonic 2 - which got as close as Tekken last week towards the end - Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes, which was a lot of fun and a perfect game for this show, and finally Little Big Planet 3, which I thought was quite a nice curve ball, and I found it especially cool that Sumo Digital made a level specifically to be used as a competitive element for the show. So all in all, great show, still don't understand all the dislike for it. |

I enjoyed that one a lot more. Maybe I was just in a better mood this time. The audience seemed a lot more subdued.
Marcus Brigstocke was a good guest for this I thought. Very laid back. Snake with virtual buttons on a prodslab was a bit of a weird decision though, no wonder Gina kept running into the wall. The final game was much much better, having a gimmick like the balloons is totally fine if it doesn't interfere with the game. That daft makey makey controller thing from the first episode was just ludicrous. |

Just go on YouTube and watch games master. Retro games, people who don't appear to have ever played, noisy audience, but at least you get Patrick Moore

I enjoy this show actually, its funny and its nice to see videogames being portrayed positively. I also like the way it shows a range of games from the 80s to recent years.
I also like Ellie Gibson doing the behind the desk 'Richard Osman in Pointless' role, always liked her Eurogamer articles. My only criticism of it would be that I think its a tad overlong, and more suited to 45 minutes rather than 1 hour. |

Watched the first half of episode 2 earlier and i do still like it, Gina Yashere aside
![]() I suppose the only other alternative layout they could have done was to have a large screen by the side of the stage that the audience could watch them play the games on and the teams could have had a large television in the middle of the stage in front of them. I suppose they felt the revolving stage was "fun" .. |

I know modding an extra camera into the game just for TV might have been beyond the show but a few explanatory shots from Source Editor or even just a simple map someone drew wouldn't have hurt. They do struggle with showing the narrative of the competition aspects in the edit- I think one player was up to 90 points in Star Wars last week before I realised the score was even displayed on-screen, and cutting away to a confused Gina Yashere in Sonic 2 when they hit the teleporter box, which swaps the positions of the characters and features a screen-filling effect, was baffling. Not sure where you'd put Dara and Ellie in that situation though. |

Gina is not a gamer so as a guest on a gaming show with challenges it didn't really work but then last weeks two contestants were also really bad at games. When they pick their game of choice it should be a guaranteed win.
I suppose in a way having really terrible gamers does make the show more amusing than having die hard gamers. When are they going to get round to playing 4 player Bomberman, that would be quite entertaining. |

I quite liked this one, better than the last week. I too hate the stage rotation but I guess it's too late now as it's all been pre-recorded. Portal 2 wasn't really a good choice to play competitively. The bomb disarming game at the end was quite good and I do like Ellie too.
Also you notice it's really difficult to do a running commentary on the games being played? Either nothing interesting is happening or it's just happening too fast. |

That's one point where I think the show could be improved a lot.
There are plenty of gobshite esports commentators that do exactly that for a living. They should have a decent one of those to keep the excitement and cohesion up and have a decent comedian for them to bounce off. Dara and Ellie could go out for a fag or something. They should lower the levels of the audience and contestants and let the comedy/commentary duo make the gameplay entertaining. They can always show highlights of the contestants screaming and stuff afterwards. It's almost as if the director is intentionally trying to confuse the viewer with all the cutting between different shots that goes on during play. |

Do we care about the ratings?
Well, either way: Episode 1 was the top-rated thing on Dave all week (5-11 Sep), with 576k watching- a clear 120k more than the second-most watched show, Suits. Dave ja vu viewers bought the show up to a round 600k. That also makes it the eighteenth most watched show on multichannel (IE, anything that isn't BBC 1, 2, ITV, C4 or C5) Dave hasn't exceeded 500k with a show for a while, incidentally- so it's clearly a good performance for the channel. |

Making them play galaxians with an analogue stick this week was purely evil. |

Week 2: Number one position again. 650k on Dave, this time 267k ahead of second place, with an additional 31k on +1 for a total of 681k.
Friday's repeat took sixth place on +1 with 35k. Seventeenth most watched show on Multichannel, and the equivalent of joint 26th most watched on Channel 5. Unspun with Matt Forde, which premiered on Dave in the same week, didn't make the top ten. (Tenth position got 258k) Red Dwarf might give it a run for its money next week, as the first run of the previous series never dropped below 1.3m in the 7-days and has already been confirmed to hit 750k in the overnights and 60k on +1. |

i thought the Bob Mortimer and Holly Walsh episode was hot garbage sadly. I'd NEVER seen a boring game of Rocket League until then, it's actually quite shocking just how dull they made every single game they play seemed.
Resident Evil 3? Oh let's just constantly run but then stop by the zombies and let them eat us. Rocket League? Let's score 2/3 goals right off the bat with the 3rd being an own goal because nobody else was doing anything remotely interesting. That finger flick football game? Nobody could have made that look interesting to be fair. Space Invaders But Not? Really, really dull. The motorbike game? Bob Mortimer looked absolutely terrified that his heart surgery was going to strike him down playing that. All in all, abysmal episode. Really hope tonight is much better. I guess this show really does live and die on the gameplay skills of the guests. |

Steve's team looks to be doing pretty good having won the last 3 shows so the best Sam can do is draw as there are only 6 shows so if Steve wins tonight hes the king of this show. Rachel Riley & Russel Howard are on tonight, so hoping Rachel is a good gamer because Sam always picks the more arrogant guests for his team. I wasent sure at first whether to record it but figured I might as well. |

That was so funny seeing Rachel Riley thrashing Russell Howard on Street Fighter 2 Turbo. She even got 2 perfect rounds too in just 18 seconds.
I reckon secretly Rachel is a gamer because she knew the moves. |

That game of Sensi was the first time this entire series has really, genuinely, properly worked well.

I thought it was a shame the teams didn't get to play the VR game.

Tonight was by far the best episode yet:
- Rachel Riley laying the smack down in Street Fighter. - An actual properly tight and tense match of Sensible Soccer. - Great use of audience interaction by involving Eamon at the end. - Perfect choice of indie game in Nidhogg (seriously, I was so happy when he said that's what was next) - Watching Dara O'Briain play the Vive could have been the entire show and I would have been content, that segment may have been massively out of place, but it was adorable seeing how excited he got. |

Chun Li is the easiest player to learn, Rachel knew how to fly kick and do the hundred foot kick. Russell did not know how to block or any air defence so it was a recipe for disaster.

I really am enjoying this, even though I gave up computer games at the beginning of the 90's.
