UKGameshows finally gets around to reviewing the show: http://www.ukgameshows.com/ukgs/Weav...eek_2016-10-23

Some reasonable criticisms, many of which have been seen upthread.

This programme is genuinely awful - one of the worst things ever aired. Amazing they decided to allow the second one to go out given the embarrassment of the first one. Dara is usually great, but the fact that even he knows it is sh1t is shown by his touchiness to criticism about it on Twitter.

Everyone involved should be ashamed.

I've seen it once, maybe twice. I very much enjoyed it and the only reason I haven't followed up is due to time and routine. I wouldn't mind if it was renewed and certainly didn't think it was "awful".

I think we really need another gameshow but Dominik Diamond hosting. He was ace on Bravo.

Happy about this.

Curious to see what future guests they get and whether they take the feedback on board re: the spinning stage.

I dont mind as long as they dont get idiots on the show who lie about being a gamer when they arent really.

Something I thought in passing was that I hope they're able to dip into the world of gaming for guests the way that HIGNFY frequently has politicians and journalists, and Buzzcocks had pop stars- we don't need every single screaming YouTuber or introverted programmer popping up, but there's probably a few personalities they can get from the better podcasts and websites as well as the more prominent producers/directors.

Ehhh, most of the celebs on the show clearly were not gamers in series one.

I only caught the series repeated at Christmas as I never knew nostalgia channels like Dave and Gold made new content before, and always skipped over 'em.

Channel 4 and BBC are idiots, there has been a big audience waiting for years for an updated version Gamesmaster or even Games World.

Yeh, he bugs the hell out of me too. Have managed to avoid most of his shows until he showed up on Robot Wars last year.

Ellie Gibson and Steve McNeill make the show watchable and if they are allowed to pick some better games to play in series 2 and 3, it may be worth a look.

Glad to see more series coming but they do need to dig a bit better to play the old classic games and also use the old classic control methods.
Annoyed me that they often were using brand new fancy-dan controllers instead of proper joysticks for games that would only ever have been played with joysticks.
If you're going to play an Amiga game like Sensible Soccer, then you play it with a classic joystick like these! http://i998.photobucket.com/albums/a...psc98f513b.png

There was always a certain skill using a normal joystick that had only one "fire" button operation. Mastering the combo moves on Mortal Kombat or the after-touch on Sensi separated the gamer from the master!

Yes, very tricky to get the heart-rip special move by Kano with an amiga joystick.
Dara O'Brian is a spoofer btw, he referred to the sega "Genesis" several times in the series.
He did not grow up in North America, he has bugger all interest in games.

That's 8 minutes of a comedy set dedicated to nothing but video games, the man has a clear love of video games. And guess what? I love video games and call it the Sega Genesis because that's what it's more commonly known as, the Mega Drive just sounds a bit bleh.

What annoyed me was how they choose a old game and they have to use something like a Wii U controller or a emulated piece of software say of a old game the Nintendo shop has.

What they're so tight they cant buy a old Megadrive and 2 MD Pads?

He behaves the very same on every flippin' show he bowls up to: Apprentasss, Stargazing with geeky rocker and Mock the week crap. His stich is enthusiastic middle-aged newborn baby lookalike.

Growing up right in the middle of this period, I never heard it referred to as Genesis by any of my peers at all or on the TV shows of the time. It may be commonly know as Genesis elsewhere but I don't think it was here in the UK.

Yep, pretty sure I still have the original Megadrive packaging box somewhere and I am sure it never had Genesis mentioned on it anywhere. Before the days of the web, none of us in UK or Ireland and Europe I think, would have had a clue what "Genesis" was.

It was called the Genesis in North America within Europe and Japan it was the Megadrive people in UK and Europe would know what the Genesis was as it was mentioned every month in the various magazines at the time when they reviewed the latest imports, my second controller I bought for my Megadrive was branded Genesis as it was impossible to get a UK contoller at the time so I got a US one. I also had (still have) a fair mix of Megadrive and Genesis games mainly UK titles but I bought a fair mix of US and Japanese titles as well.
