I have been using a BT G4 box to receive my TalkTalk YouView service for about two years now without any problems. From today, however, it no longer receives the Internet services from TalkTalk (although I still get iPlayer etc.) I plugged in my original Huawei box, and it receives them as normal.

I can only assume that they have detected that a non-TalkTalk box is connected to the router and are blocking Internet usage, leaving me, effectively, with a Freeview Play box.

It isn't as if I am trying to get away with an illicit multiroom setup. The Huawei box is mothballed. I really don't see why it should be a problem.

I am not going back to the Huawei box (life is too short). My contract is up on January 14th next year, whereupon TalkTalk's churn rate is about to get a bit bigger.

I had the same problem.

Don't ring their technical support - they won't help you.

However if you go onto the TalkTalk Community forum pages, you can submit a request to switch service to another box, and a member of staff will change it for you. I think I had to provide my phone number (privately) and Humax box ID and it was done in minutes.

Hope that helps

Thanks. I'll give that a try.

I tried it, and it took 24 hours, but it worked. Karl; from TalkTalk picked up my case and restored the Internet channels and the TalkTalk Player. So far so good. I settled down to watch a bit of Sky Arts and the channel froze on me after about five minutes, before restarting itself. This is the way its used to behave before a software update of a few weeks ago. I won't judge everything on that. It may have been a one-off, but I reckon I will still be flitting the roost come January.
