What are your top five albums of all time and why?
I tried searching for a similar thread to bump as I've no doubt questions like this have been asked but the search function is broken, so I thought it would be okay to start a new thread.
Like the title says! Choose wisley, and no more than five.

My own selection...
1. Kate Bush - Aerial. The album through which I discovered the music of Kate Bush, who's body of work I now absolutely idolise and who's work inspires me more than any other artist has ever come close to doing. 2. Shakespears Sister - Hormonally Yours. I adored the song/music video Stay when I was younger and later discovered the album from which it came and what interesting themes it contained. It's such a shame the girls didn't get on and spit up after just two records. 3. David Bowie - Space Oddity. It was released over fourty years ago but could have been made yesterday, so fresh and relatable it still sounds. 4. Michael Jackson - Thriller. His private life aside, I don't know if anyone can deny MJ's talent as a musician and performer. I could play songs like Thriller, Billie Jean, Beat It and Wanna Be Startin' Something on loop and never tire of them. 5. Madonna - Madonna. Her first album with hits like Holiday and Lucky Star is quality all the way through and I love it because it never fails to give my mood a boost when I need it. Making this list was really hard, but I feel like I've chosen correctly.

It's a tough one but I'd definitely need to include Rumours by Fleetwood Mac.

Michael Jackson - Thriller
Guns n Roses - Appetite for Destruction Alanis Morrisette - Jagged Little Pill Green Day - Dookie Dr Dre - The Chronic No real rason other than I could have them on a loop for a very, very long time without getting bored or skipping a track. No doubt a big reason is because I liked them all the right age. |

My five most favorite are from my late beautiful precious Billy Joe Royal because I love his song choice and his delivery of each song so much.
Cherry Hill Park The Very Best Of His Columbia Years (1965-1972) His 1980 released self named album The Royal Treatment Tell It Like It Is God bless you and his family always!!! Holly |

The Beatles - Revolver (changed studio recording forever)
Siouxsie & the Banshees - A Kiss In The Dreamhouse (Siouxsie at her most iconic, wonderfully produced and outstanding lyrics) The Cure - Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me (arguably their tour de force, although not necessarily the most influential) Marion - This World and Body (probably the most faultless collection of indie music ever recorded) The Cardigans - Super Extra Gravity (just outstanding in every way) It's an impossible task, especially as I'm having a major catch-up with Joni Mitchell albums at the moment, but those are the five I'd save from a fire. |

In no particular order:
Beyoncé- Lemonade I thought it was a step up from her previous albums and her visuals were excellent. Alexandra Burke- Overcome Brilliant debut from a hugely promising singer. Great mix of fun pop songs and ballads that show off her vocals. Janet Jackson- Unbreakable I love every track on this album and I just think it's a classy return. Nicki Minaj- Roman Reloaded I love everything Minaj so an album that brought together her hip hop and pop music was always going to be a favourite. Nicki Minaj- Pinkprint Her newest album is her most personal and I love that. |

How few albums does someone need to own to be able to choose a top five? Surely anyone with a couple of hundred or more would be changing all the time depending on mood? Especially if they listen to a few different genres...
I post five 'favourites' that I've played to death over the last couple of decades. Rick James - Come Get It (1978) Sly & The Family Stone - There's a Riot Goin' On (1971) Marvin Gaye - Trouble Man (1972) Curtis Mayfield - Curtis (1970) Bob Andy - Songbook (1970) |

I always found it odd that Sgt P is quoted as theirs best album - I'd have said it's either Revolver or Abbey Road.

Rumours obviously.......I would probably throw Stevie Nicks' Bella Donna in as well.
My other three would most likely be Dare, Bat Out Of Hell and Darkness On The Edge Of Town...... |

Rumours - Fleetwood Mac
Just an amazing album, Fleetwood Mac at their best Green - REM Just love this album, reminds me of my teenage years Quadrophenia - The Who Not usually a fan of concept albums but I love the journey it takes you on Korn - Korn Such a raw sound, still makes me feel the same today as it did when it first came out Wicked Game - Chris Issak A beautiful album |
