Sunday 23rd October - BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Greg Brady presented 5 Live NFL from Toronto, Ontario with Rob Staton from Salford and Charles Dagnall from Chittagong, Bangladesh

American Football: NFL Week 7 (as Westwood One)
San Diego Chargers @ Atlanta Falcons - Wayne Larrivee and Mark Malone (9.05pm BST commentary)

Prior to the live commentary, 5 Live NFL took post-match interviews from Twickenham after the New York Giants @ Los Angeles Rams game that were conducted by Mike White of BBC Radio Humberside, who was covering the match live for BBC Radio 5 Live. At half-time, they broadcast highlights from the Giants @ Rams game with commentary from Westwood One's Brandon Gaudin and Derek Rackley as well as more interviews from Mike.

5 Live NFL didn't dip into any commentary from the 6pm BST games. Charles Dagnall was only with Greg and Rob for their 90 minutes of build-up, although he'll be back with them in a similar capacity from Bangladesh (where he is for England's Test cricket series) this Sunday, when the commentary will be San Diego Chargers @ Denver Broncos.

Northampton Saints v Gloucester - Simon Ward

Saturday 29th October

Rugby League: Four Nations

talkSPORT 2

Sunday 30th October

Will Gavin presented MotoGP Live

MotoGP: Malaysian Grand Prix
Sepang International Circuit - Nick Harris, Steve Day and Matthew Birt, with Dylan Gray in the pitline (commentary on the MotoGP and Moto2 races, as the TV international feed)

Andrew McKenna presented Aviva Premiership Live and The Rugby Show from Sandy Park

Rugby Union: Premiership
Exeter Chiefs v Bath - Andrew McKenna and Nick Robinson (3pm commentary)

talkSPORT 2's MotoGP coverage began at 5am GMT, with them going on-air in enough time to take the Moto2 race as well as the penultimate one from the main series. The final race of the MotoGP season takes place in Valencia in two Sundays time (13th November). They'll be no clash with the rugby union that afternoon, as there is no Premiership action during the next couple of weeks. Next weekend, it's the conclusion of the Paris Masters tennis - the final event of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 series which talkSPORT 2 has rights to.

I believe talkSPORT 2 is now routinely taking updates from the talkSPORT sports reporters - either as separate live reports or the same ones that have aired on their big brother station on a slight delay.

Sunday 30th October - BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Charles Dagnall presented 5 Live NFL from Dhaka, Bangladesh with Greg Brady from Toronto, Ontario, Simon Clancy from Salford and Phil Spooner from London

American Football: NFL Week 8 (as Westwood One)
San Diego Chargers @ Denver Broncos - Kevin Lee and Tony Boselli (8.05pm BST commentary)

Prior to the commentary, 5 Live NFL broadcast audio highlights of the Washington Redskins @ Cincinnati Bengals game at Wembley Stadium from Westwood One's Tom McCarthy and Brady Poppinga, with post-match interviews conducted by BBC Radio Humberside's Mike White, who provided updates for BBC Radio 5 Live. These highlights and interviews were replayed at half-time in their live game.

Before their Chargers @ Broncos commentary, they took first half audio highlights from the Detriot Lions @ Houston Texans game with commentary from Westwood One's John Sadak and Ross Tucker, although they didn't pick up bits of the second half live as far as I heard. Simon Clancy was only with Charles and Greg during the 90 minutes of build-up, while Phil Spooner joined them over the phone from the half-time interval in their live game onwards.

This Sunday, 5 Live NFL will be broadcasting commentary on Indianapolis Colts @ Green Bay Packers from 9.25pm (US timezones move back one week later than the UK change from BST to GMT). Charles Dagnall, Mike Carlson and Mike White will host coverage from 7.30pm.

Thursday 3rd to Sunday 6th November - talkSPORT 2

ATP Paris Masters Tennis Live presented by Ray Stubbs and Andrew McKenna (Thursday afternoon), Will Gavin (Thursday night), Andrew McKenna and Mark Webster (Friday afternoon), Dan Windle (Friday night and Sunday afternoon) and Ian Danter (Saturday afternoon)

Tennis: ATP Paris Masters
AccorHotels Arena - commentary on the men's singles event

The daily commentary teams were:

Thursday (Round of 16) - Catherine Whitaker, Chris Dennis and Chris Wilkinson
Friday (Quarter-Finals) - Gigi Salmon, Chris Dennis and Chris Wilkinson
Saturday (Semi-Final: Maran Cilic v John Isner) - Simon Cambers and Pete Odgers
Sunday (Final: Andy Murray v John Isner) - Simon Cambers and Luke Milligan

Having covered every event from this year's ATP World Tour Masters 1000 series, next week talkSPORT 2 will be providing commentary on the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals from the O2 Arena. Their coverage begins on Sunday 13th November from 2pm. This doesn't clash with the final MotoGP of the year from Valencia, with their coverage of that going out between 10am-2pm that Sunday. Neither of the talkSPORT stations carried reports on any of this weekend's rugby internationals from either code as far as I heard.

Sunday 6th November - BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Charles Dagnall presented 5 Live NFL alongside Mike Carlson and Mike White

American Football: NFL Week 9 (as Westwood One)
Indianapolis Colts @ Green Bay Packers - Tom McCarthy and Ross Tucker (9.25pm GMT commentary)

Coverage started at 8pm following the end of the 5LSE's coverage of the final day of the Women's Super League season. At half-time, they took commentary highlights from Detroit Lions @ Minnesota Vikings, I believe with the Lions local radio team of Dan Miller and Jim Brandstatter from WJR (it was an ESPN Radio game nationally with Adam Amin and Bill Polian, but I know we didn't hear Amin as I'm familiar with him from their baseball coverage).

There's no live NFL on 5 Live Sports Extra tonight - I'm not exactly sure why, they are providing commentary on the ATP World Tour Finals tennis from the O2 Arena today, but I imagine that will be over by around 9.25pm in time for full game commentary (Westwood One are carrying San Francisco 49ers @ Arizona Cardinals in the slightly later post-9pm slot tonight) if not for any build-up.

talkSPORT

Wednesday 9th to Sunday 13th November

Cricket: First Test Match
India v England - Jon Norman

Over on talkSPORT 2, Jon also presented a retrospective show called India: The Inquest between 12noon-1pm after each of the first four days' play. While their live MotoGP coverage prevented him from hosting a show in this slot on Sunday, he did anchor his regular Cricket Week show with Jarrod Kimber between 6-7pm that evening. Jon will host India: The Inquest in the same timeslot after each day of this week's Second Test.

Saturday 12th November

Rugby Union: Autumn Internationals
England v South Africa - Russell Hargreaves
Scotland v Australia - Stuart Cameron
Wales v Argentina - Hamish Stuart
Ireland v Canada - David Brady

Horse Racing: Cheltenham Open
Cheltenham Racecourse - Rupert Bell (commentary on the Mallard Jewellers Novices Chase, BetVictor Handicap Chase and BetVictor Gold Cup)

Sunday 13th November

Formula 1: Brazilian Grand Prix
Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace, Interlagos - Graham Courtney

Sunday 13th November - talkSPORT 2

Will Gavin presented MotoGP Live

MotoGP: Valencia Grand Prix
Circuit Ricardo Tormo - Nick Harris, Steve Day and Matthew Birt, with Dylan Gray in the pitline (commentary on the MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 races, as the TV international feed)

From 1pm on Saturday, talkSPORT 2 broadcast commentary on the qualifying for the MotoGP race from the same TV world feed team during Matchday Live 2, which was hosted by Andrew McKenna and Mike Bovill and would later include updates on the 2.30pm rugby union internationals as per talkSPORT.

From Sunday onwards, talkSPORT 2 have been providing live, on-site commentary on every match from the ATP World Tour Finals tennis from the O2 Arena in London. I'll post the full list of commentary/presenting details once the tournament has concluded, but Will Gavin anchored coverage of the first match of the event off the back of the final MotoGP race of the season. Russell Hargreaves picked up the presenting reigns later that night.

Finally, talkSPORT confirmed earlier that they have won exclusive UK radio commentary rights to next year's British & Irish Lions tour to New Zealand: http://talksport.com/rugby-union/bri...oadcast-rights

They've said that all ten matches of the tour will be broadcast across talkSPORT and talkSPORT 2 - presumably all three Test matches will be on the main station, but it will be interesting to see if commentary on some of the tour matches will go out on talkSPORT 2. I'd like to see all ten matches go out on talkSPORT, with perhaps talkSPORT 2 providing extended build-up and post-match programmes as well as other magazine shows covering the tour.

Regardless of how they manage things between the two stations, I'm really glad talkSPORT will be covering the Lions next summer - they did a superb job of covering the 2013 tour to Australia and with live rugby games being a near-weekly fixture on talkSPORT 2, I think Andrew McKenna has become the pre-eminent rugby union commentator on British radio. I'm sure that Macca, Russell Hargreaves and the pundits they bring in will do a fine job of covering the action in New Zealand.

BBC 5 Live & Sports Extra -ATP World Tour Finals

Sunday 19/11 - The Final Andy Murray v Novak Djokovic

Jonathan Overend presented from the O2, commentary from Russell Fuller, Pat Cash and David Law.

This was the only match on 5 Live. Sports Extra covered all 12 singles matches from the group stage and the second semi final between Djokovic and Nishikori. Unfortunately they couldnt do Murray's semi with Raonic due to football and rugby union on the two networks..

Fuller and Law did the majority of the commentary, with Gigi Salmon joining them for the 2 singles matches on Tuesday. In the summarisers chair, Pat Cash only did the final. Miles Maclagen did a match each day for the first 7 days, Leon Smith did 4 matches, Colin Fleming 1 and Sam Smith and Simon Briggs of the Daily Telegraph split 1 between them.

Sunday 13th to Sunday 20th November - talkSPORT 2

ATP World Tour Finals Live presented by Will Gavin (Sun 13th, Tue and Fri afternoons), Russell Hargreaves (Sun 13th night and Thu afternoon), Ray Stubbs (Mon and Wed afternoons), Lisa O'Sullivan (Mon night), Andrew McKenna (Tue, Wed, Thu and Fri nights), Ian Danter (Sat afternoon) and Dan Windle (Sun 20th night)

Tennis: ATP World Tour Finals
O2 Arena, London - commentary on the singles event plus one doubles match

The daily commentary teams were:

Sunday 13th (Djokovic v Thiem & Raonic v Monfils) - Catherine Whitaker, Chris Dennis and Richard Evans
Monday (Wawrinka v Nishikori & Murray v Cilic) - Rupert Bell, Richard Evans and Chris Dennis
Tuesday (Monfils v Thiem & Djokovic v Raonic) - Rupert Bell and Arvind Parmar
Wednesday (Murray v Nishikori & Wawrinka v Cilic) - Joe Shennan, Arvind Parmar and Pete Odgers
Thursday (Djokovic v Goffin & Raonic v Thiem) - Joe Shennan, Richard Evans and Simon Cambers
Friday (Murray v Wawrinka & Nishikori v Cilic) - Pete Odgers, Naomi Cavaday and Simon Cambers
Saturday (Semi-Finals: Murray v Raonic & Djokovic v Nishikori) - Rupert Bell, Pete Odgers and Richard Evans
Sunday 20th (Final: Andy Murray v Novak Djokovic) - Rupert Bell, Catherine Whitaker and Arvind Parmar

talkSPORT 2 carried live commentary on every singles match from the ATP World Tour Finals, almost all of them in full with the exception of Saturday's semi-finals where coverage was interrupted due to the station's live football commentaries. talkSPORT 2 did all of their commentaries on-site at the O2 Arena in London, although their presentation (barring Saturday) was studio-based.

On Saturday, talkSPORT 2 initially took commentary on the opening part of the first set in the Andy Murray v Milos Raonic semi-final before breaking away to set up their commentary on Crystal Palace v Manchester City at around 2.45pm. After coverage of that match had finished (I wasn't listening live but imagine it will have been at some point between 5-5.15pm), they returned to the O2 Arena to take commentary on the final set of Murray v Raonic.

Following that, they took commentary on the men's doubles semi-final pitting Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares against Raven Klaasen and Rajeev Ram - which going by Twitter they left at around 7.30pm in order to begin their coverage of Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid. Once the Madrid derby had finished (at around 9.35pm), they picked up commentary on the conclusion of the Novak Djokovic v Kei Nishikori semi-final during the second set. Presentation-wise, Ian Danter hosted the Matchday Live 2 portion from Selhurst Park, but then I think lead commentator Rupert Bell did the honours of linking between the tennis and Spanish football once they had returned to the O2 Arena.

It was typically a three-person commentary team per day, although I'm fairly sure on Tuesday only Rupert Bell and Arvind Parmar were on duty - Wednesday morning's Sportsday highlights edit certainly suggests they only had the one lead voice in Bell. During the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 series, they have typically called upon two-person commentary teams for the finals, but I could see why they needed three what with Rupert and Catherine Whitaker taking turns to update talkSPORT on the match. For Murray v Djokovic, Bell commentated on the first set, Whitaker on the second set with Parmar summarising throughout. The only other match the main talkSPORT took updates on was Murray v Wawrinka on Friday with Simon Cambers - they didn't take reports on Saturday's semi-finals.

On talkSPORT's coverage of the British & Irish Lions' tour to New Zealand this summer, Charles Sale of the Daily Mail understands that former Lions coach Sir Ian McGeechan is the station's "first choice pundit":

Meanwhile, Gatland will have Lions coaching great Sir Ian McGeechan on call in New Zealand to consult if he wishes. McGeechan is the first-choice pundit for talkSPORT, who outbid BBC Radio 5 Live for the radio rights.
Sale's report is more than a bit vague - I'm not sure if he means that Sir Ian has agreed to work for talkSPORT on the tour or if he's their number one target to be their lead pundit/co-commentator but hasn't agreed to anything yet.

It will be interesting to see who they go for as their lead co-commentators and pundits next summer. During their coverage of the 2013 tour to Australia, their lead analysts were Brian Moore and David Campese. However, it looks as if Moore's ties with the station have been fully cut now that his Sunday night rugby magazine show Full Contact was quietly dropped over the summer (by the time that happened, he was no longer an Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast co-host either), while I'm sure they'll be looking to pick up a former All Black to work on their team too.

I'm fairly sure I heard Shane Williams being interviewed on either talkSPORT or talkSPORT 2 in the days immediately after they announced they'd won exclusive UK radio rights to the Lions tour; he was their third co-commentator with Moore and Campese for the three Lions Tests last time around so I imagine he'd be in the driving seat to have a heavy role in their coverage next year. In 2013, Sir Ian McGeechan co-commentated for talkSPORT on the opening tour game against the Barbarians in Hong Kong before linking up with Sky Sports' coverage, while the other co-commentators they used included their former lead commentator John Taylor, ex-Wallaby Michael Lynagh and a number of rested players from the Lions squad during the midweek tour games. Andrew McKenna was their lead commentator and Mark Saggers presented all ten matches of that tour.

Looking at talkSPORT 2's coverage of the Aviva Premiership this and last season, they haven't called upon many particularly big names as co-commentators nor is anyone their regular summariser, so I would imagine they'd want to bring in the likes of Sir Ian and Shane for the tour - perhaps they may even consider bringing back Brian Moore.

Once again, Jon hosted India: The Inquest (which doubled up as Cricket Week with Jarrod Kimber) after each day's play between 12noon-1pm on talkSPORT 2.
I omitted the words "on Sunday" when mentioning that India: The Inquest doubled up as Cricket Week on that day.

That is great news (as is the Jim Maxwell return). AM commentated on one Test Match earlier this year on ABC Grandstand.

Sunday 27th November - BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Charles Dagnall presented 5 Live NFL alongside Mike Carlson and Simon Clancy

American Football: NFL Week 12 (as Westwood One)
Cincinnati Bengals @ Baltimore Ravens - Tom McCarthy and Mike Maycock (6pm GMT commentary)
Carolina Panthers @ Oakland Raiders - Dan Miller and Ross Tucker (9.25pm GMT commentary)

5LSE took commentary on the final two minutes of the earlier Bengals @ Ravens game, having started by taking audio highlights of its first half and other key plays from the early matches. Simon Clancy was only with Charles and Mike during the build-up to and the early stages of the first half in their featured game.

This Sunday's live game is Washington Redskins @ Arizona Cardinals from 9.25pm, with Kansas City Chiefs @ Atlanta Falcons being their featured 6pm game. Again, it's a case of them going with the two Westwood One picks.

Friday 2nd December

Sale Sharks v Exeter Chiefs - Simon Ward

Saturday 3rd December

England v Australia - Russell Hargreaves

Sunday 4th December - talkSPORT 2

Andrew McKenna presented Aviva Premiership Live and The Rugby Show from Sixways

Rugby Union: Premiership
Worcester Warriors v Wasps - Andrew McKenna and Glenn Delaney (3pm commentary)

Here's a heads up to all rugby union fans for a specially scheduled programme on talkSPORT 2 tomorrow. Between 12noon-1pm, the station will be broadcasting a show titled Lions Coaches: The Announcement. Warren Gatland is set to be officially unveiled as the head coach of the British & Irish Lions for next summer's tour to New Zealand and his backroom staff are set to be officially announced for the first time during this hour.

Of course, the talkSPORT stations have exclusive national radio rights to next summer's British & Irish Lions series and I remember the main station doing something similar to this as part of their mid-morning show ahead of the last tour four years ago. I believe Andrew McKenna will be talkSPORT 2's man in Edinburgh for the press conference.

Jon Norman hosted his India: The Inquest show on talkSPORT 2 between 12noon-1pm after each weekday's play from the Fourth and Fifth Test matches, barring the Saturday of the Fourth Test when they were providing commentary on Osasuna v Barcelona from La Liga. The Sunday editions of the show doubled up as Cricket Week with Jon and Jarrod Kimber. It'll be interesting to see if this show returns in January for the limited overs series.

After a two-week break for European club rugby action, the talkSPORT stations will be providing four Aviva Premiership commentaries in four days over Christmas. With there being no English league football on Christmas Eve, they will be doing simultaneous Premiership commentaries on their two channels - Wasps v Bath (2pm kick-off) on talkSPORT with Saracens v Newcastle Falcons (1.30pm) on talkSPORT 2. The latter station then has Bristol v Worcester Warriors (3pm) on Boxing Day and Harlequins v Gloucester (4pm) on Tuesday 27th December.

Sunday 18th December - BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Charles Dagnall presented 5 Live NFL alongside Phoebe Schecter with Greg Brady from Toronto, Ontario

American Football: NFL Week 15
Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears - Kevin Lee and Ross Tucker (6pm GMT commentary, as Westwood One)
Tennessee Titans @ Kansas City Chiefs - Gregg Daniels and Brian Baldinger (6pm GMT commentary, as Compass Media)
Oakland Raiders @ San Diego Chargers - Greg Papa, Tom Flores and Lincoln Kennedy (9.25pm GMT commentary, as Compass Media)

Phoebe Schecter is the captain of the Great Britain women's American football team. During the first two hours of their coverage, we also heard from Matt Sherry from Gridiron magazine.

We heard two different commentary providers on 5 Live NFL for the first time this season, with them taking excepts from regular network Westwood One's 6pm commentary from the final five minutes of the third quarter onwards as well as bits of the Compass Media Network's featured game, before taking Compass Media's Raiders coverage after 9pm. Indeed it's the first time we've heard a broadcaster other than Westwood One on 5 Live NFL this year.

There's no 5 Live NFL this week, what with it being Christmas over the weekend, but they will have coverage of the final round of regular season games on New Year's Day from 7.30pm. They'll have a full commentary after 9pm, although they've yet to announce the match and obviously it will depend on which game has the most riding on it.

Christmas Day - ESPN Radio (USA)

John Brickley presented The NBA on ESPN Radio from Bristol, Connecticut

National Basketball Association
Golden State Warriors @ Cleveland Cavaliers - Marc Kestecher and PJ Carlesimo, with Marc Stein at courtside (2.30pm ET commentary)
Chicago Bulls @ San Antonio Spurs - Sean Kelley and Kara Lawson (5pm ET commentary)

ESPN Radio's NBA coverage is set to begin on a regular, weekly basis from the second week of January, with live games typically airing on Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons. With Kevin Calabro signing on as the Portland Trail Blazers' TV play-by-play man this season, the excellent Marc Kestecher has been given a well deserved promotion to become their regular NBA commentator this term. Another bit of good news is that it appears ESPN Radio's NBA commentaries are no longer blocked online domestically or internationally.
