Gorgeous performance from these two. Len was bang on - Daisy looked and danced like a true English rose. I'd never heard of her before Strictly and I have to say I have a feeling I'm really going to like her!

Hello Ochre. I'm not sure I agree with this position but Daisy was beautiful and ... let's discuss her dress

Aside from the colour, which I think washed her out a bit, it was lovely. I would have put her in a cap sleeve top because she has not much muscular definition in the chest/shoulder area, though that may change as the weeks progress (and I think she is here for quite some time). I loved the bodice and tulle skirt though. She has such an amazing voice also and comes across as authentic. I didn't like Len's "best week one" though. Felt like a poke in the eye for Helen and Pixie, at the least! However, she and Aljaz make a fine couple.

Lots of good wishes to you and your family xx

I will check upon ethnus-pro's comments when s/he posts them as they are a great sounding board for those who are good dancers.
Thank you Maggie, and to you

Ha ha no surprise that I do agree with Daisy topping the leaderboard Louise was brilliant but I did think the combination of Daisy's technique, her chemistry with Aljaz and the emotion she danced with meant she just deserved that extra mark to put her at the top. It's hard to compare though when they're doing such different dances, I'm sure Louise will come top in future weeks. Danny was good but too many MJ stagey moves and I think that's why he got his seven from Len which was fair in comparison to others for the actual Cha Cha steps he danced..

Know what you mean about Len's comment but I just took it as a lovely compliment to Daisy and Aljaz and loved their reaction to it. You know how much I adored Aljaz's partnership with Helen and their dances but it's a new series now and I'm excited to follow him with Daisy. She has had less dance training and isn't an actress so her performance was quite an achievement for the first week.

I just loved Daisy's dress too, the tulle skirt was beautiful

Here is their Unforgettable Waltz

Just got emotional watching it again, ah it really was one of those Strictly moments for me.

Their backstage reaction after dancing, "Incredible!"

From training gear to Strictlified!

Stunning shot of this gorgeous pair on the dancefloor.

I thought Daisy was brilliant last night. I've just posted in the overmarked/undermarked thread as to why I think she deserved to be top. Unfortunately many people will be missing some of the really good things about her dance as people tend to concentrate on the woman's topline and will therefore be annoyed with Len's mark. Her movement was really good. Nice proactive drive on step one, soft feet, good rise and fall. If someone danced with her and some of the other ladies, I'm sure they'd see a big difference in the way they contribute to the movement across the floor and to the pivots.

I haven't posted in this thread before (I think) because I don't come into this as a big Aljaz fan and I'd never heard of Daisy. So they really won me over.

Hi Ann Lovely to hear they won you over and thank you for a far more expert opinion than mine on Daisy's footwork. Excited to see more ballroom from them but also how Daisy fares with Latin this week.

Daisy looked really good in their Cha Cha training on ITT! They're on the show with Zoe tomorrow night.

I think Daisy looks sensual in her cha cha cha but as Ian says she has yet to master the leg technique. I hope she will because it would be great to see a woman-long-of-limb good at both disciplines.

While I'm here may I unappreciate the press trying to suggest Daisy and Aljaz will become victims of the 'Strictly curse'? It's clear they get along well and Aljaz seems to get on well with all the partners he has had thus far. They seem to have a strong rapport and they are spending time together with their partners in tow. So I wish the press would drop the nonsense! And breathe ...

Agreed with the above! Had my doubts about Daisy's ability in Latin - but she's looking rather impressive in the ITT clips!

Hi Maggie

BIB I hope so too but if she doesn't quite then Cha Cha is a good one to get out of the way early! If only Pixie hadn't got it in the quarter finals A strong performance and demonstration of potential in Latin will see Daisy through this week combined with her high Waltz score and the impression she's already making.

Yes Daisy and Janette seem to have made a real effort to get to know eachother and to get along well. Aljaz and Janette weathered all the speculation with Abbey and that was in the earlier days of their relationship and first season on Strictly, sure they'll ignore it all now. Daisy can handle the press too

BIB - I didn't know Daisy is in a relationship.
I am going to say something that will get me into trouble. IMO, I think Daisy is more suited to Aljaz than Jannette.

Someone said according to the bookies, lots of money going on AJ and Claudia
getting together. I can't see that happening.

Back to topic, I hope Daisy does master the cha cha legs and gets a decent score.

Great photo of Daisy & Aljaz with the rest of the group on ITT last night.

Agree with Zoe, their Waltz was a real Strictly moment.

Loved Daisy's comment that it felt like they were floating

Great compliments from Aljaz on Daisy's footwork and posture.

Highest score in Week 1 for 3 years, last couple to score 32 in the first week were Abbey & Aljaz . . . Aljaz's lucky white trousers

Love how Zoe threw in that she and Ian have the highest ever Week 1 score

Zoe mentioned online compliments from Frankie Bridge and Emma Willis for their Waltz.

Daisy's right, Aljaz is a good 'un

On this week's Cha Cha training . . . After an emotional three weeks Daisy is enjoying getting to do something 'fun' and 'sassy'.

Aljaz on the pressure they feel after topping the Week 1 leaderboard . . . 'Always pressure but I always take it the same way, every week you have to do your best dance.'

Aljaz on the Cha Cha . . . It's gonna be fun, upbeat, they've put a lot of work in to technique, straightening the legs, hips . . . wants to sing in to his hand held mic

They are a gorgeous pair and Daisy came across so well.

Great summing-up of the interview

They really are a super pair - everything bodes well for the cha cha cha on Saturday !

Hi Sarah, sorry about the online source I'm linking here: https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbi...efit-the-rich/

Daisy seems to have had a number of beaus this year according to the tabloids.

BIB
And Daisy knew that it was Zoe that was Ian's partner when they set the highest score.

They were just marking it, but Daisy seemed to have developed more of the CCC technique.
I'm kinda sorry that Daisy is dancing the CCC in week 2. I think she would be devastating if they danced it in the second half of the series, but maybe she will be amazing this week and it will help when they get to the Rumba.

Good morning, Ochre . Thanks for the summary. I hope Aljaz doesn't try and clone her into Abbey 2.0. Some of us still haven't got over Abbey winning.

Good morning, Maggie Thanks for the link, all be it the Sun. I don't know much about Daisy. May be a good thing, she might be one of those who keeps her private life, private.

The cha cha cha was not as good as her waltz but she seemed to understand the technique if not deliver it all, which is why I agree with Len that she will be good at both ballroom disciplines. She can deliver performance wise and is confident as a dancer, which is nice to see. Watching her tonight was the first time I agreed that long legs and latin dancing are not the most suited. I've not believed that before when Len has spouted it but he's right, in her case anyway. There were a few moments where she could not quite move her free leg quickly enough. But it will be interesting to see how this improves over the weeks and I think she'll be here for a good while yet.

As to her outfit, which Ochre wants to discuss - the short dress really suited her legs but the colour was too cool for her - white and pinky/lilac stripes. She looked great in red and I'd like to see her in orange and gold. Loves the fringed on the bottom of her teeny skirt.

Loved the Cha Cha from Daisy. She danced it very cleanly, and I thought that lift, although illegal, looked very impressive.

I think if she reaches the final, I'd like to see it again danced with more confidence and flair.
