He does, doesn't he- and bring out the best in them in the process; he was able to do confident humour in Alison's foxtrot (one of my favourites), ethereal ballet with Helen's VW, cheeky vibrant with Abbey's salsa and now touching and warm with Daisy. Unlike many on the MF I thought their QS was extremely memorable and have re-watched it several times.
I've a feeling this rumba may be Daisy's breakthrough dance where she really gets to "feel" the dance. I'm no doubt just projecting here, but I reckon that Daisy has a sensitivity to dance beyond the obvious fun and enjoyment. I think so too. ![]() She seems like she has a feel for really beautiful dancing. Not just moving everything into positions, but doing it in the way that looks best.. |

It's also the way she talks about it... She seems to have imaginatively grasped that movement is meaning. I thought Will knew that too (every dance so different in character) so I'm sorry to lose him from the show

Just popping in to agree that I think Daisy will deliver a very high standard rumba tonight with Alijaz. The training footage was looking very promising.
Her BBC bio says that '.....With a dance history that includes hip hop and modern to dance away her “teenage angst,” Daisy can’t wait to master ballroom....' So Daisy has put on the record that she has dance training which is fair enough. Do we know any more about her training? I was wondering how she compared with e.g. Danny? |

Well I've had the sax solo from 'Careless Whisper' in my head all week, looking forward to the band's version Training looked very good, excited for their Rumba

Youtube link to Daisy & Aljaz's Rumba
Wonderfully expressive movement and stunning lines from Daisy. The stones on her dress wow, gorgeous lady. Love this backstage reaction from them both

Judges comments and scores for Daisy & Aljaz's Rumba
Len: 'You're not lazy Daisy because you have worked hard . . . Little things please me, I can't help myself, I loved that Forward Half Basic then you went out to Fan and then you even got the eighth of a turn as you closed . . . Things that just pass by but I like them . . . A terrifically difficult dance and I though you did a terrifically good job.' Bruno: 'Careless whispers, more like breathless judge. I am tingling all over, I'm shivering, I'm panting to the point of turning! Your intent in the dance was just spectacular but apart from that, seriously now, we talk about content a lot. You had in there every single Rumba step that you would want to see in a Rumba. You didn't skip out anything, even the most difficult. You kept the flow going most of the time, just one time you stopped a little bit . . . maybe because you felt a little bit insecure but I'm telling you what you put in to this dance is what we should see in every Rumba. Just next time be more fluid all the way through, not just in some moves . . . I loved it.' Craig: 'I thought your free arm lacked a little direction and definition and by that I mean a tone and a resistance as the arm goes out. It seems to just land there and waft around a little bit without any sort of strength behind it. You have to be able to make it fluid . . . I do think it lacked a little bit of chemistry for me. I know my colleagues probably don't agree with me but I just felt there could have been a bit more of an emotional connection.' Darcey: 'I do not agree with my lovely Craig here. You used your whole body to express that motion without doubt. Long, languid moves, very difficult to control and sustain. To get that balance every time you stretched out, very impressive. Really, that is a very difficult dance. Do not listen to him.' ![]() Scores: 7 8 8 8 Overall score 31. An improvement of 1 mark from her Cha Cha. I would have liked an 8 from Craig as well to give 32 and put Daisy 1 mark ahead of Lesley rather than them being tied. Aside from that I thought Daisy & Aljaz's leaderboard position was fair. |

Daisy hasn't had extensive formal dance training other than maybe having taken a few classes here and there and none in ballroom prior to Strictly. That's one thing that makes her understanding and progress in such a short space of time so impressive.
I am happy to see a range of backgrounds and abilities on Strictly as it makes the programme more entertaining to watch. 15 x Ed Balls would be

Ochre - I agree with that. I like Lesley enormously but Daisy's rumba was definitely the better dance.

It had good content and the training looked good.
Its obvious to me, that Daisy has the potential to be very good at the Rumba, and the signs were there. I could list the things that weren't quite there, but there were a lot of things on the plus side too. They are through, and deservedly so.

Hi Ochre. Very relieved to see them safely thru this week. Rumba's a tricky dance. Relatively low scoring and not always a vote winner. Phew! I wonder what dance they have next... Perhaps a ballroom tango or a foxtrot.

![]() I think it would on the surface be a tricky dance for Daisy, but it could be useful in getting her to lose the nerves and get into performing more. They are having fun and I'm sure they are in a good mood for a Charleston, so Daisy just has to develop her performance skills a bit to show that. It may also be a good dance to have early in the Series when its easier to get the difficult dances out of the way. |

Agree fatskia. It's the perfect antidote to the Rumba. Plus Aljaz has form. Abbey's charleston was quirky and fun. Just what Daisy needs at this stage. It also frees up Tango and Paso for Halloween week. The two best dances for Halloween (imo).

ITT Last Night, Week 5
Daisy & Aljaz both looking beautiful as always and with the lovely Janette too ![]() On the Rumba . . . Daisy: 'I loved this one . . . the Rumba was always something I really wanted to learn how to do and actually it meant that last week I was in quite a state of panic because I wanted to do it well . . . It was great choreography and I'm just very lucky that I've got the best teacher.' Zoe raises Craig's comments on their lack of chemistry. Aljaz: 'I did think there was a lot of chemistry and it was actually one of those dances, to me it actually rarely happens, that you start it and then you're so in to it so you pretty much realise that it's done. So I thought we were in it the whole time and I think that Daisy played the romantic character through the whole thing . . . Maybe there can always be more.' Zoe asks Daisy if she was upset about the comments afterwards. Daisy: 'I was quite upset , . but then while training we were saying that I'm much better at dancing when I'm not so nervous and then I thought maybe I've not done a proper job.' Aljaz: 'You do things better when you're not as nervous but it's a Rumba and we had a little circle around us, we called it the whole week our 'Circle of Trust' It actually felt like we were within a Strictly bubble doing the Rumba.'On the content packed Rumba choreo . . . Aljaz: 'That was my plan at the beginning of the week, I came in with that choreography and I was thinking yeah we're probably going to take a couple of things out but then we actually didn't. . .' Daisy: ' . . . And I didn't forget any steps, I did all the steps which I was really pleased about.' Aljaz: 'I would struggle to find any more ( ) . . . It's such a slow dance and you're so exposed and doing so much basic, so many proper Rumba steps, it can be a tricky situation but Daisy handled it so well. I'm so so proud because it was a really difficult dance to do.'Zoe comments that Daisy has said she's having the time of her life, is there anything that could make it better? Daisy: 'If I could just stop panicking as much so for our dance this week no more panic is allowed. Just excited.' On the Charleston . . . Daisy: 'I've got Charleston ankles . . . in heels, walking down the corridor was quite tricky ( ) . . . It's so happy and up and so much fun, we had such a laugh today.'Aljaz: 'I love it . . . It's going to be very dark at the beginning ( ![]() ), I love the idea and the concept and it sounded really cool in my head so I hope it looks very cool on the camera.'Zoe asks how keen they are to get back up to the top of the leaderboard. Daisy: 'I'm just grateful that I'm still here . . . Everyone's so brilliant that I think aiming for the top is slightly impossible at the moment.' They then play the results music, poor Daisy's face changes ha ha. Daisy: 'My palm's just gone so sweaty, instant reaction . . . It's not getting any easier. Everyone's so brilliant and it's just so incredible learning a new dance each week that I don't want to go home and I also don't want anyone else to go home. Let's just all be winners.' ![]() We'll find out their Charleston music soon. First (legal ) lifts for Daisy, hope they're very much choreographed to suit her.

Daisy & Aljaz are dancing the Charleston to 'Happy Feet' by Manhattan Rhythm Kings. Brilliant song choice.
