Good music. Good swivel. All we need now is good outfits - hopefully not dressed as penguins - but you never know

Don't worry Ochre. It's only Ed and Judge R. who are allowed to raid the dressing up box every week
(I love them both).

I'm in two minds about the routine and her technique for the dance. I think she has sex appeal and can smoulder well. There was nice movement in the dance but I'm never sure of Aljaz's rumbas if I'm faithful to previous remarks I've made when discussing Helen's rumba with Ochre.

Daisy's dress was a bit indecent I thought! The colour of it and shape around her rear made it look like her bottom was naked ... Also, Ward Robe seem keen to dress her in colours that are washed out on her. Would have been great if she'd had a dress the colour of Anastacia's or even red. Loved the sparkly sequins though.

Hoping her charleston goes well.

I'm happy with the training we have seen so far! For a big girl who hasn't seemed particularly athletic so far, Daisy is looking like she has this!

I HAVE to say - ALjaz's face in the love show photos! Easily matched by Daisy and soooooo comical. Looks like they really enjoyed the dance.

Great idea for a charleston. Quirky and original.

I usually split my votes 3 ways but gave them all to Daisy & Aljaz tonight.

Judges comments for Daisy & Aljaz's Charleston

Darcey: 'They were so lovely. You capture the quirky playfulness of the silent movies. It's like 'bang' you are in there and that was just heaven. The style really suited you. Not easy when you're a tall girl because you have to be really contained to be able to achieve all those moves and especially with the white shoes and the white gloves, very revealing of the technique . . . I would only say at the very end you get tired and that crispness goes just in the moves . . . I'm just being really picky here because I loved it . . . Tighten up the core, get round in those lifts but it's difficult to do those right at the end. Well done.'

Len: 'Well you've got happy feet, I'm happy, I know everybody in here's happy and I thought you did a wonderful Charleston. Well done.'

Bruno: 'Clever, full of joy, very smart concept. It was like watching Betty Boop coming back to life. I loved it, very nice indeed.'

Craig: 'A very happy face. Mistakes of course are going to be amplified considerably with those big old white shoes darling but you danced on the upbeats brilliantly. Slightly late end but you were just a little bit tired. I loved it, I thought it was brilliant.'

Scores: 8, 8, 8, 8 Overall score of 32

I would have liked to see at least one 9 for Daisy but thought her overall position on the leaderboard was fair.

I liked Bruno's Betty Boop reference, of course the cartoon character said to be based on Helen Kane. I loved Daisy's quirky Helen-esque look, thought it suited the dance perfectly.

The beginning was my favourite part of the routine

Backstage reaction from Team HappyDayz . . . 'Happy Aljaz . . . happiest feet!'

I'm VERY pleased with that! Good routine - choreographed to suit Daisy. Her timing was excellent, as was her technique.
Another dance which has potential to be recalled if they get to the final. By then Daisy would have gained more fitness and that would be all that could improve it - a little more energy.

Great post Ochre and thanks for the links. Re-watching the dance I think it's better than I first thought. No wonder they were pleased.

Over the years, the Strictly Charleston has tended to be all fast swivels, kicks and lifts.
There are a whole range of Charleston styles and Aljaz and Daisy's was a bit different (smoother) style - which I liked.
An ILHC Charleston Final which shows a range of styles.

Hi Maggie Yes each time I've rewatched I've noticed different moments in the routine I'm impressed by. A skilled performance from Daisy full of character.

Thanks for the link fatskia. I think those dancers are lindy hop, as per the title of the piece, which differs to charleston although they are linked. I love the 'rubber legs' and those flexible, talking feet. There was a forumite, diamond betty, who danced and taught charleston. She's not posting this year, which is a shame because there have been some excellent charlestons including Daisy's. I'm amazed that Daisy is light and fast because she's tall and looks heavy in the legs. I'm glad she's challenging my perception!

It is at the Lindy Hop finals, but that was the Charleston final.

This is the Lindy Hop Final from the same year.

Phew. What a performance from Daisy when she must have been so nervous. Halloween Week here we come!!

So sorry to see Lesley go though.

Yes - Lesley was a delightful surprise!

Daisy NAILED the Charleston in the DO - which is a good sign of her being strong mentally. She has said how stressful the reveal is, so it's good to see her perform so well under pressure.

Hopefully she will get a bounce-back in support next week - as we've seen with others. She is dancing well enough, and there are at least 3 dancing worse.

Fingers crossed for a spectacular Halloween dance and that bounce back in votes

Can't wait to find out which dance, song and theme they have!

Aljaz was so lovely with Daisy tonight, I can't say enough what a great partnership they are.

Aljaz is a great partner to have. I was very happy Daisy got paired with him.

Surprised (and a little bit sad) to see Daisy in the D/O... but she took it all in her stride. May be a good thing to have the experience now. I think there might be some tough D/O's ahead for any of the girls. They're all good dancers but so are Danny & Ore and the rest of the fellas are clearly popular. Onto Halloween

My bad. I don't appreciate the differences between lindy and charleston.

Re the DO. It was hard for Daisy. She comes across as natural and authentic in her shock and upset at Lesley's departure. I like her more. Sometimes a DO can really focus the celeb. So here's to next week and fingers crossed there's no Halloween jinx for Aljaz!
