^why does her being old mean she exempt from criticism, people are allowed to comment on what the article said and it is obvious that her exit was more about Barbara than Peggy. Ok so it was a joke and lighthearted I still don't see anything wrong with people expressing their opinion at the 'joke'.

It never ceases to amaze me how quick people are to want to destroy Barbara Windsor on these forums. To the point it's pathetic that a 79 year old woman is spoken about so disrespectfully and personally on what is a soap forum. The kind of remarks made yesterday were appalling and just goes to show the real mentality of the some of the users on these forums. What nobody bothered to post on the thread about Bab's "supposed" return to the show was that there was a denial put out soon afterwards and it seems a light hearted comment with a journalist was written as a "factual" story. How come no one saw the Radio Times piece saying "she is not returning"! If I was walking down the street and saw people abusing a lady of nearly 80, I would take issue with that. Bit of course at least those people would be brave enough to show their faces......not like on here....isn't that right Keyser? The tide is turning though and more people are getting prosecuted for certain things they write....or even better email addresses are being traced and nasty trolls have people turning up on their doorsteps to face their actions.......Ask all the trolls on here one question......"What have they achieved in their lives today or ever?"!! I doubt if it is much more than sitting in their rooms with no job, no life and no friends.......!!! At least Windsor did something more with her own life.........!!! Now I will leave you in peace as I'm sure you are busy trying to be spiteful about other old people....

It's always annoyed me that Barbara has always appeared to be put forward (either by her own words and actions and/or tptb) as the star of the show and Peggy the queen of the Square and the recent indulgence over the whole Peggy death nonsense has just compounded that. It would have been different had more time been taken over it and a proper storyline prepared, but the whole thing seemed to be thrown together so an ex-actress on the soap could have a final self indulgent hurrah despite not appearing, been relevant and not particularly missed for several years. If Peggy's death had any relevance to an upcoming storyline, she could just as easily have passed away offscreen. Nobody is bigger than the show.

As extreme as it would be, I'd love Peggy and Pat to come back for a Halloween episode where they just sit in the corner of an empty Vic and talk about old times and worries about their families and friends still here.
A complete 2 hander, which ends with the pub doors opening - prompting Peggy to ask "What are you doing here?" before the duff duff and foreshadowing an unannounced death. Then we have a second episode which features a shock death, letting us know who had died, and who had been met by Peggy and Pat.

Goodness knows, she would have been unbearable had she been in EE as long as Bill Roache has been in Corrie...
