As a poster previously explained you can't just give your liver to who you like
There's a waiting list and protocol, and even if it's a soap it has to portray it realistically

But they wont because it is a soap

Phil will get his liver straight away and will be out of hospital in a week

Time in Soapland is different to real life im afraid

They dare not get this wrong. There are people out here waiting for an organ, some of them children, some of them viewers. The press would crucify them. He won't even go on the transplant list until November.

I am rarely critical of EE but this should have remained a secret.

It was load of old shit!!!

Thanks

The problem is I don't care for this Mark character yet so this story has no impact to me.

To be fair I thought Phil telling him as a thank you for saving Ben was a realistic way of it coming out. Low key yes but the whole storyline has been that way and was flawed from the minute Michelle wrote to Peggy so I wasn't expecting much to start with.

I work on the Liver Unit at KCH and you are wrong. A family member or friend can donate to you provided their blood is compatable. When someone needs a transplant they always look to the family first before going on transplant list.

This is thankfully the last of DTC's unnecessary "fanfiction" storylines, but I think the reveal was good. A nice dramatic moment done in a subtle fashion, not OTT screaming in the street like I was expecting.

That's for living donors. I'm not sure it applies if someone has died. If someone carries a donor card do they specify who their organ goes to if they should die.

Sorry I read it wrong, no donor livers go to the next match on the list ... it is only live donors have a say . I was reading posts saying about Mark or Grant and thought you meant live

This is the defence people always give when a story is criticised for having zero impact.

"What did you expect? Wailing and screaming and crying in the middle of the street?"

No. People expect this news to have some kind of effect on the characters. Mark has been around five minutes. He got drunk once with Courtney and has had a car ride with Grant. These people don't know each other. They've not had weeks and months of believing they were nothing to each other. There's nothing there. The reveal is pointless and has no emotional weight to it.

As I said, I think this story was unnecessary. There was no point in revealing it without Michelle in the show, so any potential it could have had has fallen flat.

But I did enjoy the scene between Phil and Grant last night and thought it was a good way to reveal the secret, even if I don't think it is the best storyline. Similarly, I thought Kat 'secret baby' reveal was done very well even though I thought the storyline itself was silly.

Yeah, a character we barely know and don't remotely care about finds out a character who hasn't been in it for 10 years is his father. Can't wait.

I would agree if there was commitment from the lead players. Namely Ross Kemp, with 8 episodes to play with, what can be done? With Kemps refusal to act with more than about 6 name actors in the cast, what can be done.

This hasn't been a great watch but in the writers defence, their hands were tied
