The Mitchell's are so contrived now. It's hilariously bad. |

Good God how I'd HATE to be related to a bloody Mitcham!
Just the thought of having them in charge of saving your life is just...Ugh! Could you just imagine their rescue missions?Bomb In The House Courtney: "Oh noez someone planted a Bomb a in our house! Quick, call the Bomb Squad!" Phil: "NO! What have the Bomb Squad ever done for us? We disarm it the Mitchell way!" Not Mitchell Sharon: "Quick! Call Ritchie and get Grant!" Swimming In The Australian Sea Louise: "Oh noez Ben is being chased by a Great White Shark! Quick, contact the Sea Coast Guards!" Phil: "NO! What have the Sea Coast Guards ever done for us? We rescue him the Mitchell way!" Ian: "But Phil..." Kathy: "Ian! Phil's right, please don't make it worse." Not Mitchell Sharon: "Quick! Call Ritchie and get Grant!" Visting The Grand Canyon Ben: "Oh noez Louise is hanging on for dear life in the middle of the Grand Canyon! Quick, call the Emergency Services!" Phil: "NO! What have the Emergency Services ever done for us? We rescue her the Mitchall way!" Not Mitchell Sharon: "Quick! Call Ritchie and get Grant!" I bet Phil will carry out his own liver transplant with a rusty penknife his dear old dad gave him. |

Who instilled this Mitchell code anyway? Phil and Ronnie, the nominal chiefs of the family both despised their fathers and Peggy was only a Mitchell through marriage. I seem to recall Archie confirming that Grandaddy Mitchell who died in 1969 was a hated tyrant, as well.

The whole show is contrived. I'm not sure there's much more that can be done with it. Sometimes I watch it and it feels like EastEnders has just run its course.

With budget cuts still to come into effect it does question just what any producer can do with the show. I can see more of the big name actors being axed over the coming months and we'll probably see plenty more inexperienced actors coming in to replace them, it really doesn't bode well. Add to that the damage DTC has done to most families and characters on the square, its going to take at least 12 months to try and undo a lot of this mess for the new producer to be able to move the show in a direction he wants it to be. There is no quick fix. |
