Is that why you're flitting between the two iPhone 7 threads telling people how rubbish it is and that anyone remotely liking it needs help? I'm sure the forum is eternally grateful for your service, although if you want a bit of feedback, maybe tone down the 'Megadrive vs. SNES' and 'PS3 vs. X360' type vibe - it comes across as a bit 'squabbly'.

I'm fed up with people having nothing but positive stuff to say about this phone. There is nothing remotely bad about it huh? No negatives at all?

If Samsung did this, you would be up in arms. It's totally ridiculous.

Then maybe, y'know, stop contributing to multiple threads about the iPhone 7?!

I don't care what Samsung...apple or any company announces to be honest - why should I get my knickers in a twist at over-egged marketing?

Both companies innovate. Two years ago Apple produced one of the first flexible phones that folded neatly in your pocket.

Samsung have now beaten Apple to it with the first Mission Impossible phone.

Who, of a certain generation, wouldn't want a message device that self destructed in 30 seconds.

Come on Apple, always behind the times.

I always use it when cooking for setting the timer. Much quicker than setting it manually.

What positive comments? I even created an 'appreciation' thread for the iPhone 7 and it was almost completely ignored.

At the end of the day who cares? It's a phone. Buy it or not. It will probably work quite well. There will probably some niggles as usual which will take an update or 2. On the whole, people who choose to buy it will be very happy with it and that will be that.

One of the reasons I bought my SE is that I fully expected the 7 to be just this and I couldn't justify paying over £600 for such a thing. That doesn't mean I don't like it or that I think anyone who does buy one is stupid or a victim of marketing.

I'm personally very happy to be back on iOS and if I wanted a larger phone and could justify the cost I would buy a 7. Or a 6 or a 6S.

The biggest irony I suppose is that those who hate the phone and the company and never intend to buy one actually do Apple a huge favour by keeping Apple threads at the top of most tech forums, not realising that most people take buying decisions on a series of practical considerations, not frothing, irrational hatred of one particular brand.

Only 40 dollars for a small adapter. Bargain!

Slightly off topic but how do you find the SE? I realise I don't really need a big screen on my phone after all.

To be honest I absolutely love it. Does everything I need it to do although struggling with wifi calling but that's more down to my ADSL and kids streaming crap all the time. But as a phone, it's totally perfect for me.

I love the way they up'd the price for the UK, I might be wrong but I don't see other manufacturers doing that.

They will be, this is the first major launch since the referendum

I think the currency nosedive is going to hurt on all imported stuff.

Yup. OnePlus put up its prices quite soon after. Others have considered it, or have released products since that already included a slight premium.

To be fair, other manufacturers haven't had a whopping and rather unexpected £11bn tax bill fall at their feet!

I think you will find that Dell and HP put their PC prices up recently. Same reason.

I very much doubt Apples recent EU tax issue is factored in to the current price. If after the appeal has dragged itself out for the next 5 years or more and they lose it might become something Apple decide to recoup...

I've got one too. It's the first iPhone that I've ever bought. I thought that I'd been left behind when the screens got bigger but when this was announced I thought that they'd created an iPhone for me. The right size, a great spec and a price that I could justify.

I was put off smart phones because of the short battery life but this lasts longer than my previous Nokia flip-phone. I love it too.

I'm glad that I held out and waited for the SE and I think it will be a few years before I get the urge to change.

I think price hiking is just Apples choice.

The iPhone costs around £60 to make (being generous), so all the rest is profit margin.

Some will have to go towards marketing and other overheads , but most is profit margin.

Given the phone looks nice but is similar to many android phones, some which are in the £300s price range - its only brand loyalty or some other connection to the brand that would make you purchase.

Yes, because all the r&d, product development, software development, etc is all free

And why might people have brand loyalty?

Reminds of me of this:

The Graybeard engineer retired and a few weeks later the Big Machine broke down, which was essential to the company’s revenue. The Manager couldn’t get the machine to work again so the company called in Graybeard as an independent consultant.

Graybeard agrees. He walks into the factory, takes a look at the Big Machine, grabs a sledge hammer, and whacks the machine once whereupon the machine starts right up. Graybeard leaves and the company is making money again.

The next day Manager receives a bill from Graybeard for £5,000. Manager is furious at the price and refuses to pay. Graybeard assures him that it’s a fair price. Manager retorts that if it’s a fair price Graybeard won’t mind itemizing the bill. Graybeard agrees that this is a fair request and complies.

The new, itemized bill reads….

Hammer: £5

Knowing where to hit the machine with hammer: £4995

I think this also, they are simply profiteering using brexit as an excuse, sickening.

Where did you get your exchange rate from? There aren't $4 to the £.
